Good old "Mac", « Vfter«» of many a banquet, had something good to say about each of hit. boys and gave generous credit to everybody for whatever success the team enjoyed. Took in the basketball game ' Friday night. You should have seen the crowd. Must be tbi.s town is hopped up over our team this year. • --- , The Doys will take time out from conference play to meet the Hebron Green Giants next Tuesday night. That may be a big order, but we can't see the Giants running away from our taam this year. . It's bound to be a big attraction and tr.ere won't be many ieats vacant. Speaking of attractions, you #ant to be sure to see the Red Heads play our Co-ops Sunday night. That should be a real Choice bit of entertainment. Separate stories have told you imout this famous girl's team {put let this be a reminder not tb miss. J'Fred Heide, one of our Httle Ifllpers, sent this one in: -- On receiving a complaint ^bout a bread issue an officer Snapped: "If Napoleon had that Sead in Russia he would have ten it with real pleasure." Effortless emotion: gift of gab ANONYMOUS t£ Fore* Reservist! ailed Questionnaire Veterans On MCHS Team Come Through With Victories ' By Gil Mercure The BIcHenry wrestling team, coached by Mr. Elliott W&eeland, started their season here Wednesday with Wheaton Academy, and had hopes of racking up a team victory, but they couldn't do so. Except for one time, Wheaton Academy was leading all the w?y. Final score: 29-19. McHenry got off to a bad 9tart when they had to forfeit the 165 pound class to Wheaton Academy. This was due to the fact that we., had no wrestler to wrestle in this spot. Bob Stromstead, who is a new member of the team, brought the first victory to McHenry when he pinned his opponent. Bob is showing signs of promise and should aid the team a great deal this year. McHenry has such veterans as Chuck Green, Gene Hughes. Gil Mercure, and Bob Krickl, all of whom brought their team victories. It might interest some of you to know that there has been two more classes added to the regular ten classes. They are 95 and 175 weight classes. This was recently done by the State of Illinois. We think that this was a very good decision, because it gives an opportunity for more boys to come out for this upcoming sport. Our next match is at home against Wheaton High School. VVe surely hope to see you all there on Tuesday the 25th of November. . • . Weight Class 95 Quez of Wheaton, beat Paul Jessup of McHenry, by points. The score was 9-0. 103 Bob Stromstead of McHenry, beat Carding of Wheaton, by a pin in the second round. 112 Garber of Wheaton, beat McDermott of McHenry, by points. The score was 10-6. 127 Gene Huges of McHenry, beat Deming of Wheaton, by a pin in the third round. 133 Ltindberg of Wheaton, beat Bob Bitterman of McHenry, by pdiiits. The score was 4-2. 138 RerUies of Wheaiton, beat Don Dowe of McHenry, by a pin in the third round. 1'45 Gil Mercure of McHenry, beat Johnson of Wheaton, by points. The score 7-2. ~ 154 Wright of Wheaton, beat A1 Trendler of McHenry, by a pin in the third round. 167 Forfeited to Wheaton. 175 Neft of Wheaton, beat Joe Pesdhke of McHenry, by points. The score was 8-2. In the heavyweight division, Bob Krickl of McHenry, beat Heulbert of Wheaton, by points. The score" was 5V0. .•> SPIRIT OPS WARRIORS BEAT MAREN60 Green Giants Of Hebron Play Here Next Tuesday Night They filled most of the seats in McHenry High's spacious gymnasium last Friday night as an enthusiastic crowd watched the Warriors i^oll along to a 59-42 win over Marengo's basketball team. This was the second win in the same number of ustarts *for the Fulton-coached team and quite an improvement in play was noted. Coach Fulton j has eleven men suited up for the first squad and found a spot to use every one. John Bolger, who led the scoring with 13 points, was the only star! er to stay in all the way. John was a ball of fire as he set up plays on offense and gave the opposition fits with his great defensive play. „ Tom Huemann's three' baskets led the way to a 13-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. In fact, Marengo's first point came at 4:25 in the quarter when Griebel sank a free throw. Team Spirit Scoring was well-divided for the Warriors as they' showed good team spirit in passing to the man in best position to shoot. While McHenry led all the way, it is to Marengo's credit that they stayed in there with plenty of scrap to the final whistle. They closed in to a 45-37 score early ir; the fourth quarter before the Warriors pulled away. McHenry's J.V. team won by a 27-18 score. More about the Little Warriors as the season progresses. Now comes the conference grind. McHenry plays in the strong North Suburban group this year, travelling to Warren this (Wednesday) evening. Here's one you won't want tc miss. Hebron's Green Giants will be here next Tuesday, December 2nd. Marengo (42 ) THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER ,j 1*hursday, November 27, 1952 Griebel Davis tVolkman _ jj. Only 8 percent of all the elementary teachers in Northern's service area held the Master's degree, which represents one year of study beyond the Bachelor's. The whole town is talking about the coming of the famous Red Heads, that world-famous girls basketball team which will appear in the MCHS gym next Sunday night vs. the McHenry Co-ops. "Feature stories in leading magazines assure one that these very large, husky girls can play a rlassy game of basketball in addition to putting on a comedy show that keeps a eroVrd in stitches. . Some of the features originated by the Red Heads are the "Pipgy Back", "Under Legs Dribble", "Congo Line" and "Finger Ball Spinning." •+*• Men's Rules No sissy stuff for these girls.
