Big feed, humorous banter, dancing and everybody was happy. There's Joy In MCHS Camp As '53 Starts Off Right There is joy in the MCHS Warrior camp after a trip to Lake Forest last Friday night that resulted in a SI to 37 victory. John Bolger, the play-maker, turned out to be the leading point-maker in this game as he poured in 8 baskets in this game and 2 free throws. Stan Aim was up close with 7 baskets, 4 of them coming in the second quarter when the Warriors forged ahead 28 to 16. The box score will show an oddity in the personal foul department. Only 8 fouls were called against Lake Forest and 13 ag&inst McHenry. Looks like old tiniest Steal The Ball While a good offense still rates as the best defense in most basketball circles, the Warrior style of defense seemed to turn the trick in this game. Sending Bolger and Aim down court on the press resulted in several "steals". Froehlich matched Bolger's 18 points as he sank 6 shots from the floor and picked up 6 points from the free throw line. This one was McHenry's all the way. After a close firjsff. quarter, the Fulton boys moved ahead and kept control. Coach Cuda's scrappy J. V. five came out on the wrong end of a 39-35 score. Jim Jackson dropped in 5 baskets and 8 free throws to lead the Little Warrior effort. The Boozers considering themselves the "Elite" in bowling circles, were leading throughout most of the match, but the Muckers, mere truck drivers, kept the pressure on them and they just couldn't take it when the "chips were down". Want Ads, like freedom, ate •vervbodv'* business. MCHS gym was the scene of one of those basketball games Tuesday night that are meant only for strong hearts. The Warriors had to put on a great finish, but came through with a 54-53 win over Harvard. Coach Fulton .started off with his regulars, worked in some subs in the third quarter, then wound up a great fourth quarter using one senior (John Bolger) and four juniors. The "Spirited play of this Combination/ took the fancy of the crowd And also took the b^ll game. The Warriors were plenty cold in that first half and trailed 28- 21 at the end. Making <only five out of eighteen free throws (counting first and second shots) in the first half didn't help a bit. - ----4-7-^. - - Reese, with a beautiful jump shot, scored seventeen points in the first half. In the second half, he was held to five points. The reverse of this picture saw Ron Ford score only two points in the first half, then find the range and sink fifteen in the last half. . The Warriors came out like they meant business in the third period and moved up fast. At first signs of bogging down, the reserves started coming in and those boys renlly made the most of their opportunity. 9 The Old One-Two The Warriors caught up as Bolger drove in hard and sank the tying basket at 35-all. "Red" Stilling, whose rugged rebounding stood out, followed with a shot that put McHenry ahead 37-35. With the score tied at 45 in the fourth period, Harvard's center, Ruppert, fouled Ford for his fifth personal. Ron made good on his shot, then made two more free throws to gain a 3- point margin. McHenry started a control game at this point, but four programs. It does not conplenty of action followed.
