Not only were the Bisbees launched on their new enterprise as managers of the home but also welcomed home their sen, James Bisbee, from service in Korea. Mrs. Helen Bisbee is an able practical nurse who has been employed both at the Hartland home and at Robin Hill rest borne in Woodstock. Shan-Gra-La can accommodate four old persons who wish a genuine home rather than institutional care. Those who wish to go along and help give a party for the veterans at the hospital are asked to contact Jerre Elbersen, the Auxiliary president. The Wonder Lake unit of the Auxiliary has brought in $336 worth of clothing to Elgin, 432 magazines. 175 pounds of carpet rags, and 104 packages of cigaret.s. Light cblored clean shirts are badly needed. The unit is also collecting old eyeglass frames, the sale 0$ which provides a transportation fund for veterans. .Coupons collected by the unit ire used to help keep up the pursery at Downey veterans' 1 hospital, for the purchase o fr artificial limbs for veterans' children and for other children, who need such limbs and cannot afford them. Wonder Lake's Auxiliary entertained at the Children's home in Woodstock recpntly, along, with the Union unit. A birthday cake was presented to all th»> children and movies were shown. Mrs. Elbersen would like all membership dues paid as soon ai pcssible. Mrs. June Kiddell is itt charge of the membership fundi. Hospital Auxiliary News' 'The semi-annual meeting of hospital Auxiliary, held recently at Todd school in Wood- Stock, was well attended and it is hoped that at the next meettog mere members from Wonder Lake can attend and hear the fine reports that are given as to tfce progress being made by the Auxiliary toward completion of tile mothers* and children's wing. Wonder Lake was especially mentioned for its fine growth of membership and for the twentysome items that were contributed to the sale held in November.
