Mr. Stewart, silver buve.- for Montgomery Ward, gave an interesting talk on* the history of silver making and present day patterns, illustrating it with some beautiful pieces he brought along. A social meeting followed, with guests from. Crystal Lake v. present. Plans were made for an April tea for McHenry county girls planning to attend college. Attended Father's Birthday Celebration Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cuda of MeCullom Lake spent last weekend in Cicero, where they helped Mrs. Cuda's father, Frank Vyskocil, observe his sixty-second birthday anniversary. A delicious dinner was' served at 4 o'clock to a number of friends and relatives. •Marie Oeffllng Aerain Named P. T. A. President Seventy-five members of the Johnsburg school P. T. A. attended the election meeting held Bust Monday evening. Mrs. Alfred Oeffling was re-elected president, Mrs. Fred Fuchs, vicepresident; Mrs. Frank Schmitt, secretary; an$ Mrs. Frank Schafer, treasurer. An amateur show was enjoyed # th adults and young people t&king part. The entertainment presented included dancing, instrumental and vocal musrc. Sister Louicella's grade won the attendance prize. Sixth grade mothers acted as hostesses. The next meeting will be held April 27, when a panel discussion will be conducted by Mrs. Prfd Svoboda. Installation of officers will take place in May. McDermott last week to elect officers, vote local agenda and hear resume of recently conducted workshops. Ruth Kolar was re-elected to the office of president. Elaine Spu'ehr .was elected vicepresident, Fern Paetow, secretary; and Uldena Haught will again hold the purse strings. Jean Booster of Lakemoor and Dorothy McEachren of Wonder Lake are new directors. The topic for study on lotial agenda is local law enforcement. Jean Booster and Lillian Belshaw will wirite up the recently conducted local government workshops. Sara Ann ^Corbett reported on the first session t>f. civil liberties work-shop. R u t h R e d m a n , m e m b e r s h i p chairman, announced thirty-three paid-up members. She also announced that the installation dinner will be served at McHenry Country club the date to be announced. The local league will be represented at the annual slate meeting Shoreland hotel, Chicago, April 26, 27 and 28, by two delegates. PTA SCHOLARSHIP IS AWARDED TO ROSEMARY SHAW Thursday,, March 26, 1953 PERSONALS 500 Club* Enjoyed Outing And Dinner Members of the 500 club took a trip to Carpentersville last Thursday, . where they' enjoyed dinner at "Floyd's." Making the trip were Celona Kane, Katie Howard, Annie Geier, Margaret Masquelet, Susie Lawrence, Mary Freund, Amanda Brown and Marie Schaefer. , Cards were played at the Freund home following dinner. Seventy Attended Family Fan Night On Sunday, March 22, the Ringwood Home Bureau unit held a family fun night and potluck supper at the Ringwood Methodist church. There we're about seventy present, which included members, their families and guests, among which were the Rev. Darrel Sample and Mrs. Sample, Miss Irene Downey, the new Home Advisor for McHenry County and Mr. and Mrs. Horace Sears. Mrs. Sears, is Assistant Home Advisor for McHenry County. Mrs. John Hogan, „ fooas chairman, assisted by a committee . of four 4-H girls, served the din ner and Mrs. J. J. Neuharth also lent a helping hand. Mrs. Arthur Hoppe, recreation chairman, accompanied by Mrs. Joseph Waynne at the piano, led the group In singing "A Romance in Songs." There are certainly some wonderful men's voices in the community, judging by the fine singing they did. During the month of March, the McHenry county Home Bureau is having a drive for new members and Mrs. Roy Swanson and Mrs. Louis Belshaw presented a short skit pointing out the advantages of belonging to a Home Bureau unit. The highlight of the evening included the colored slides presented by Mrs. Dorothy McEachren of pictures she took during her recent trip through England, Holland and Belgium. Gausden, who has been hospitalized at Great Lakes since shortly after Christmas, is recovering at his home here. He will not return to (Juty for some time but during his stay at home will need to report to Great Lakes for check-ups periodically. Leonard T. Nelson, Indian Rid^e, Wonder Lake, was admitted to St. Mary's hospital. DeBalb, on Tuesday of last week, where he underwent laboratory and x-ray tests. Mr. Nelson had been quite ill at his home in Wonder Lake but is now able to be up and about. A P. T. A. scholarship meeting was held on March 20 at the office of County Superintendent ot Schools Tazewell, when it was announced that the $1,000 golden jubilee scholarship this year would be awarded to Rosemary Shaw of Zion-Benton township high school. She is a senior. First alternate was named as Arline Nelson of Fox Lake, a senior at Grant Community high school, and the second alternate is Robert Milanich of Grayslake, a senior at Grayslake high school. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cuda and son, Frank, spent the weekend with Chicago relatives and were also Chicago callers on Monday evening. Mr. annd Mrs. William Schneider and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pabst and son, Michael, of Chicago visited in the Cornelius Quinlan home on Sunday1 afternoon. Mrs. Otis. The Misses Helen and Joann Knox visited their sister, Mrs. Frank Rossi, at Elkhorn, Wis., last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Phalin and daughters, Diane and Monicft of Waukegan were McHenry visitors last weekend.
