Whiting of Woodstock, who lived in ICcHenry many years ago, died early last Thursday morning, Oct. 15, in an Elgin hospital. He was born here Aug. 21, 1878, a son of the Arthur B Whitings. Mr. Whiting engaged in farming as a young man and later Was employed by the state highway department until his rettrement abput three years ago. Survivors include his wife, Jennie; six sons, Floyd, Roger, Lee, Arthur, Jr., and Walter, all of Woodstock, and LaVerne of Waukegan; three daughters, Mrs. Doris MUlin of Woodstock, Mrs, Theresa Zuck of the state of Washington and Mrs. Agnes Grasser of McHenry; also seven grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bast rites were eondudted Saturday afternoon from the Merwin funeral home, with burial in McHenry County Memorial parte cemetery. Last rites were held Saturday, with burial in Acacia Park cemetery, for Clara Kling, 86, of McCullom Lake, who died last Wednesday. The widow of Charles Kling, she had been a resident of this community for fortyfive years, the last seventeen as a permanent resident. Mr. Kling died six yearfc ago Survivors include two daughters. Myrtle Dunn and Hazel Esser, one granddaughter, Janet Esse*' White, and a sister, Mrs. A. Johnson, of B<?one, Iowa. A grandson, First Lieut. Paul Esser, Jr., preceded her in death. --CONFERENCE SPEAKER - Dr. R. Merrill Powers, execu-, tive secretary of the Methodist Rock River conference of Illi-» nois, will speak at the McHenry county church school workers1:; conference at Crystal Lake on: Tuesday evening, Oct. 27. His": \opic wil be "What Makes A; Good Church School?" Dr. Powers, who is well known for hitf supervision and assistance in church schools in this part of the state, will also talk earlier in the evening on "Interesting Seniors and Adults."
