All of your friends of Lakemoor wish you a long life of health and happiness together, Mr. and Mrs. James Johnson. A former resident of Lakemoor, Miss Jean Korbhon, daughter of Elsie and John Korbhon, will be married March 6 to Robert Swanson of Woodstock. Jean now resides in Woodstock. Mir. and Mrs. Aindrew p. Anderson of Lakemoor will celebrate their forty-fifth wedaing anniversary §unday, Feb. 14. They are a wonderful example for the twp tiewlyweds above to set a pattern by for their new life. Congratulations and - may you have many more years of happiness together. Joseph Yaeger of Lakemoor left Monday, Feb. % for a three weeks' vacation. He went to Buffalo, N.Y., to meet • his brother,. Frajik Yaeger. From there the two of them are planning on perhaps going to Bermuda for a couple of weeks. Have a nice trip, Joe. ' . Three of our firemen went to help out in the fire at Zion Saturday. They arrived there at 8:30 p.m. and worked Until 1:45 a.m. They were working with the Navy. The known men were Bill Gibson, Art Levand and Harry Strnad. It was quite an experience for these men and any of the other men from the neighboring towns. Tragedy intervened on the way home when the fire chief of Fox Lake had a heart attack and passed away. We extend our sympathy to Fox Lake for their loss. It just so happened that last week members of the women's auxiliary had gone to Zion for the county meeting. They went through the Zion college building and learned the history of Zion and also saw the theatre in which they hold the Passion Play every year. It Was a very interesting experience enjoyed by Elsie Cynowa, Lou Bitterman, Irene , Godina, Jenny O'Learj^, Marge. Ehrhairdt and Pat Morrison. It was lucky It was held last week and not after the terrific fire which they had on Saturday night. Pat Morrison needs old nylons very badly to stuff dolls that they are making for the winter carnival. So come on, girls, clean out the drawers and get those nylons o^er to Pat's this week. McDermott's ladies' bowling team is going to bowl Hallowell and James at LaGrange Sunday, Feb. 14, at 2 p.m. As many of you that can should try to go and cheer the team on to victory. Good luck, girls, after watching you on Mondays I don't think you have too much to woh*y about. Mr. and' Mrs. Walter Para speQt the weekend to Chicago visiting friends and relations. Saturday night the Lily Lake P.T.A. had a wohderful turnout at their Founder's Day program and wish to thank everyone who cooperated In making this affair a success. Illness We were sorry to learn of Mi* Marie Dorgan being in the hospital for the past week. We trust by the time this item is out she will be well on the road to recovery. She is in the Victory Memorial hospital in Waukegan. Ray Vanasek is in a hospital in Chicago after suffering a heart attack. A speedy recovery to both Of you. latkm. Therefore, if you own a dog that is running at large, see that it is tied up at once and avoid an expensive and unpleasant encounter with the authorities. At the village meeting Friday night, an ordinance was passed regarding the minimum floor space required for new dwellings. Another' important item to remember is that the monthly meetings held at McDermott's building the first Friday of the month will now be held on the second Friday of the month. A notice is beinp sent to all of our taverns that they must be closed on all municipal election days, including school elections, during the hours that the polls are open if voting takes place inside this village. Hie firemen have only two more weeks to complete the fire house if it is to be ready for the winter carnival and unless more of you men get out and give a hand in this, it will not be accomplished, so please heed this plea and come out and give the fellows a hand in this matter. Village News Mr. McDermott reports that he has been trying for several months to establish a dog pound near the village. He has contacted all the farms in the area and the veterinarian in McHenry, but has been unable to work out an arrangement. The village board has now appropriated a sum of! Conservation, m o n e y f o r t h e i m p o u n d i n g o f ' all stray dogs and will be Operating in two weeks. A new state anti-rabies law provides that owners must have their dogs inoculated against rabies before June 1, 1954. Dogs not having rabies tags will be impounded when found at large. Owners will be notified whfen dogs are impounded and may redeem the dog by paying for inoculation, board -and one dollar for the county rabies fund. ELM STREET McHENRY, ILLs V. You know Mbi Perkins. Well, she's been driving her own car around our town for a little more than 30 years. The other day tfhe had a bit of trouble parking down on Main Stireet. Didn't quite make it the first try, so she pulled out to start over when a fellow waiting to pass started tooting his horn impatiently. On the second try, she was still having a little difficulty and so this smart aleck hollered, "Lady, do you know how to drive?" "Yes, -young man," Miss Perkins answered, "I do. But I don't have time to teach you now." From where I sit, it's not always easy to have a good answer ready when you need it. But whea somebody insists that I vote for his candidate, for instance, or choose tea instead of a temperate glass of beer with dinner, I know the answer. It's all a matter of personal preference ... and none of us like "back«eat driving" f row anybody. Low Cost Fuel Ai Your Door Why use out-moded fuels with all the extra work they cause?
