Dr. R. Weldon Larimore, Natural History Survey fisheries biologist, says that the minnow population of an Illinois creek was not permanently reduced, even when he used an electric ^eine nine times in three years to remove as many as possible of the small fish. ISJne collections were made from August, 1950, through October, 1953, with a total yield of 76.217 minnows weighing 521.99 pounds. "These collections represent a heavy yield in relation to the existing population," Dr. Larimore reported. According to his findings, removing as many minnows as possible at one time from this stream did not reduce the minnow population in the study section of the creek for more than a few months. Natural fluctuations of the minnow population overshadowed the effect of cropping with the electric seine. These findings, he said, appear to cast doubt on the necessity for restrictions currently placed on minnow fining in some states. WARRIORS' STRONG START WINS 46-40 OVER LAKE FOREST The McHenry Warriors started like a house afire at Lake Forest Friday night, rolling up a 15 to 6 lead at the first quarter mark. As things turned out in the last half, this lead was needed to bring about a 46 to 40 victory. Lake Forest downed McHenry's J.V. team 39 to 29 as the boys failed to approach their true form. .
