A delicious chicken dinner was served family style. Over ! two-thirds of the members attended, which was gratifying to see. Mr. and Mrs. Sanpone and • daughter of Chicago came out for the affair and we were all f very happy to see them. A short business meeting was held, at which time our election of offi- • cers was discussed and it was voted to hold the election on ^ June 6 at 3 p.m. at Mary Schiavone's dress shop. All paid up members are entitled to vote at f this time. Our meetings for the following ^ year will again be on Saturday nights in the Community House. After the meeting there was • dancing, with music furnished by Pete Hamil's orchestra. There is now a membership drive going oa and all are invited to join. Anyone desiring to join, please * contact either Mrs. Kraus, Mrs. McDermott or Dick Hyatt, as they are the" committee for new . members. General News For the past two weeks, Mr. and Mrs. Forbes have had visiting them Mrs. TSedard, Mr. Wendt and Louise Fournier. Every day they were seen walking our roads and enjoying the beautiful country air and they sure will not like going b^ck 10 the city on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. R. Erickson had Mr. and Mrs. Fred Carlipp of Chicago out for the weekend and they also enjoyed the dancing Saturday evening at Club Lilymoor. Casey and Ann Brzezinski's house was humming with visitors on Sunday. Casey's mother, dad and sister were out, Ann's brothers, Art and Mike, with their wife and finance, and also Ann's sister, Mrs. Marie Fabian, were out. Mrs.,Wade was surprised Saturday morning when her grandson and a group of his friends came out to picnic here. Sunday she also had company and one of the women managed to get up on top of Jungle Jim on the beach but when she reached the top could not figure out which way to get down. With the aid of Mrs. Wade, she finally succeeded in doing this. Last Wednesday, Mrs. Harold Foss entertained her pinochle club. A chop suey lunch was served. Prizes were won by Mrs. Geiger, Mrs. Wruble wski and Mrs Brzezinski. We all missed Mrs. Para, who was too ill to attend. Last week there was a shower on Elsie Kirchoff in Lombard. Elsie and Frank Bitterman, Jr., are going to be married June 5. We wish you a lot of happiness *nd good fortune in your new life together. Bob Bitterman celebrated his birthday May 12. Belated greetings to you, Bob. Lois Bitterman's grandmother, Mrs. Gildermeister of Wonder Lake, passed away last Tuesday. She was buried in Ring-wood cemetery. Don't forget the movies being shown every Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m .in the fire- house by the auxiliary. Helen Para's misfortune. Last Wednesday, when she had three nose hemorrhages, she was home for two days with packings in her nostrils and oil Friday she was sent to Woodstock hospital. I hope by the time this paper comes out she will be home and well on the road to recovery. We all missed you at the dinner Saturday, Helen. Village Nem Parents, please warn your children about the roads on Sundays. There are many more cars out over the weekends and although we have our speed signs up they seem to igqgre them and the children cannot be as free as they are during the week, when the traffic is lighter. Property owners, check your lot lines and make sure that your fences and shrubs are not on public property. Confirmations On Monday evening, Mr. Buchwalter was confirmed. His sponsor was C. Brzezinski. Bob Bitterman was also confirmed. Robert and Corkey Foss were confirmed Monday, also. They had a dinner at 120 Club for their sponsors and their wives, with open house in the evening tor their relatives and friends. Corkey had his uncle, Chris Foss, for sponsor and Bobby had his uncle, Frank Brader, for his sponsor." Hollywood Really Hoods Thoso Technical Advisors The butcher, the baker, the ca» dlestick maker--and about everyon« else--watch Hollywood closely Is •ee that they are done right. Let a movie maker show as little *• 50 feet of film wherein a plumber, doctor, dentist or bricklayer uses the wrong tool and he will get s stack of mail. That's why hardly a movie 1ft made these days without at least one technical adviser, and some times three or four. .In "A Streetcar Named Desire," one scene briefly shows a machine shop where some welding is going on. "Hiat was the signal, then, for Warner Brothers to call in Arthur Johnson, a veteran welder. He went on the pay roll as technical adviser to be sure all scenes pertinent to his craft were correct. Plumbers are the most sensitive craftsmen, according to studio executives, and next come doctors and dentists. That's why you seldom see jokes in pictures any more about plumbers forgetting their tools, overcharging, hooking gas lines to water <*r cold water to hot. alee It Easy-. Take A Cab! This sign looked roughly like a numeral four, and is distinguishable in the modern pharmacy symbol coupled with an "R'\ standing for the Latin word recipio. This means "I take"--or, more to the point, the modern word "recipe." The latter word is accurately dee* criptive, for that is what your doctor does when he writes a prescription.
