Stratton's program to encourage residents of the state to "See Illinois Now." New Salem State {)ark is located in Menard county on State Routes 123 and 97 and is approximately 20 miles northwest of Springfield. Because of its central location in the state, it is accessible for a one-day motor trip from almost any point in Illinois. The "restored Lincoln Village at New Salem State park is regarded as the most impressive of all the historic memorials in the nation," Governor Stratton says in urging residents of the state to visit the area. "It will serve the people of Illinois and the nation for many generations to come as a great source of inspiration." If you plan your trip to New Salem between Aug. 13 and Aug. 22 you will be able to visit the Illinois state fair at Springfield. The fair, which will be 102 years old this year, is the world's largest agricultural exposition and one of the three largest fairs in the country. Other places suggested this we4k for travel in connection with the "See Illinois Now" program include Blackhawk state park near Rock Island-Moline; Kickapoo state park near Danville; Crab Orchard Lake near Carbondale and Kankakee River state park near Kankakee.' Reporting og the developments which have set the stage for expansion of bulk handling routes, the June issue of Capper's Farmer said the premium idea has been brought back into the' milk price picture. "Ralph Nichols, McHenry county, says he is getting around 37% cents more a hundred under the new system," reported the farm magazine. "The plant pays 25 cents more in premium for quality and reduced handling rates. His butterfat test has averaged a point higher with the tank. This gives him 7 cents and he figures, by direct measurement tests, that his is getting another 5 cents from reduced milk losses." The Hettermanns have been visiting their numerous friends and relatives on their short stay here. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Collis of Iowa dropped in on the Jim Hettermanns last Thursady evening. The Collises are visiting relatives in McHenry.
