Girl Scouts Thiiteen girls who belong to Troop ,3 of the Girl Scouts, With their leaders, spent two days recently in Chicago, making their headquarters at the Palmer House. The girls took the North Shore from Waukegan and after arriving at the hotel, started an afternoon of fui^ This included dinner in Chinatown, where they were taught the art of eating with chopsticks, after which they visited the temples and various shops. From there they went wlfidow shopping on Michigan avenue, stopping for refreshments along the way. Early the next mornTng the girls were guests at the Breakfast club television program in the Morrison hotel. To the delight and surprise of the troop, two of the girls were called to appear with Don McNeil. Back at the hotel a conducted tour of the hotel had been planned for them. The girls were taken through the kitchens, the telephone office, the clothes cleaning department, a private suite, the grand ballroom and th* beautiful Empire Room. The remainder of the time spent in Chicago was given to the girls to shop. They returned to MeHenry a tired,. but happy, group Family Gathering University To Conduct Get-Acquainted Program Next" fall's University of Illinois freshmen ^ from MeHenry and nearby counties and their parents will meet Tuesday, June 29, to learn about the university and have questions answered. The session for all interested in the university is one of a series being sponsored annually throughout the state by the University of Illinois Dads' association. It will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Woodstock Community high school. A. B. McConnell, MeHenry county chairman for the association, is in charge of the meeting and arrangements. MARY ANN MARTIN LOVELY BRIDE OF RONALD MILBRANDT The flower bordered lawn at the home of her parents was the scene of the wedding Saturday, June 19. at 3' p.m. when Miss Mary Ann L. Martin exchanged nuptial vows wi^h Mr. Ronald E. Milbrandt. Miss Martin is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilheim Martin of Indian Ridge, Wonder Lake, and her bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Milbrandt, Wonder Center, Wonder Lake. The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Frank W. Anderson of the Wonder Lake Gospel church, the vows being exchanged beneath a leaf and rose-decked arch. Music was provided by an organ at which Mrs. Cail Weber of MeHenry presided. Jean and Joan Weber, classmates of the bride, sang "Because."' The very lovely bride, given in maniage by her father, wore a gown of ivory satin and lace. The bodice was of lace, with stand-up collar, and the gong sleeves came to a point at^ the wrist. The skirt *was of satin, with apron effect lace applique in front, and two streamers of lace applique on the back of the skirt and train. Her fingertip veil was held in place by a pearl, sequin and rhinestone tiara. She carried a bouquet of Amazon lilies and lilies of the valley. Pearl earrings were her only jewelry. Mrs. Esther Leckman, sister of the bride, acted as matron of honor, while Patricia Kurbyun of LilymoOr, a classmate, was bridesmaid. Both wore strapless floor length gowns of Italian shantung, with shrug jackets. Carleen Pellegrini and Karen Martin, both nieces of the bride, served as junior bridesmaids, wearing white Italian shantung floor length dresses and gauntlets. Carla Martin, pretty, blonde niece of the bride, served ap flower girl. She was attired in a llress which was similar to those Worn by the junior bridesmaids. The older girls carried bouquets j>f daisies carnations, roses and Selphiniwh, while the flower girl earned fc 'basket of the same flowers. • i . John Murphy attended his friend as best man, while Carl Martin, brother of the bride,, served as groomsman. Ring bearer was James Fiala, holding a heart-shaped pillow with satin streamers, to which the rings were tied. For her - daughter's wedding, Mrs. Martin chose a rose crepe dress and white daisy corsage. The bridegroom's mother wore a dusty rose lace dress and had a white carnation corsage. Immediately following the ceremony, strawberry shortcake and coffee werg served to 250 guests, t / A reception for 100 rflfitives and close friends was heTd at the Masonic hall in MeHenry at 7 o'clock. Smorgasbord was enjoyed by those attending. Mrs. Ed Muchow and MiW Edith Muchow cut and served the three-tiered wedding cake tb the guests. The young Milbrandts are now enjoying a honeymoon trip in the western states, with Mexico and California as their destination. After their return in three or four weeks, they will reside in an apartment in the home of her parents. > The bride (graduated earlier this month from the MeHenry high school.
