Youngsters find it difficult to un« derstand the reason for the constant itching that it causes an<( parents find it hard to cope with the troubled youngsters. Both parents and children can get relief from the effects of eo zenia. Dr. Li I a R. McCorriston t o f M o n t r e a l , Canada, recent® ly tested hydro* cortisone drugs, such as Cortril and reported it to be "70 to 100 percent effective in all cases. . After applying t h e h o r m o n e "ointment to 104 /oung patients, she found the "imr, provement occurred within 24 to • 48 hours of the beginning of treatment." Why should an- otherwise healthy child become afflicted with this skin disease? Doctors have found that eczema in infants usually occurs when there is a family history of allergies-- conditions of unusual suscep. tibility to specific substances which are harmless to most people. The disease can occur if the child is allergic to certain foods such as chocolate, oranges, strawberries or tomatoes; from physical contact with strong solutions, oil, wool or other fabrics; from friction from clothing or from inhaling dust or pollen.
