COMMUNITY PARTY RAISES FUNDS FOR improving ROADSL By Marie Schaettgen The Chapel Hill County Club was the scene of another gay party; last Saturday evening. T;era'- were . about seventy-five people there to enjoy the games and refreshments. The purpose was to raise funds for fixing a road to the beach and making the beach better foir the Chapel TTiil anH Wnu/Pll'fl Villfl who use it. Through these community parties, a feeling of good-will toward the neighbors is being fostered. Residents who" sometimes live on the same road and who have hardly- had a hodding acquaintance with their neighbors are beginning to really know each other. Cooperating in • making the evening an entertaining one was ' the committee. Mrs. Yale (daughter of * the Gasts, present owners of the club), Mrs. Danford, Mrs. Holm, and, of course. Mis. Watts, sister of Mrs. Bosky, served the refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. Bosky and Mrs. Watts are always on hand to help people get acquainted and keep things going. Mr. and M:s. Gast were" circulating among the guests and enjoying the party, as were Mr. and Mrs. Corey. The Tweed family was all i merp nnn nnorec! TMo of a young guest when she won a prize. This nice /young lady has been in this country only a short time, but she seems to have become assimilated into the American life already She is a native of Germany. Mrs. Tweed is the daughter of Mrs. Paibst, who still loves their,^ .beautiful estate in Howell's Villa and stays until the snow flies each year. Mrs. Pabst is 82 years old but if one remarks about th4 tennis courts and bath houses on the grounds she begins to reminisce about the days when the children were young and those same courts reverberated' with the sounds of j their happiness. The Pabsts were, qdt a gregarious family and each ! weekend the place was filled f with family and friends. Mrs. ' Pabst says the cook came out from their Chicago home and ! good food helped to make those weekends memorable.
