MANY DIFFER] {1 ANCIENT EfiYj $RY AND BE# SCHOOL CLUB GETS COMMISSION CHARTER ON CITIZENSHIP The civjcs club of St. John's school has.this past week received its official charter from the Commission on American Citizenship in Washington, D. C. The charter formally recognizes the local unit, which was recently organized. Pupils of grades seven and eight comprize its membership. Officers of the newly organized club are Charlene Freund, president; Ronald Smith, vice-president; George Diedrich, secretary; and Albert Cajthaml, treasurer. The club is one of 2,200 Catholic clubs chartered in the United States "in the past year. Sponsored by the Commission of American Citizenship of the University of America in Washington, D. C., these clubs foster training in good citizenship. Through monthly projects featured in the N&tfotitfF' * Catholic Weekly for students of the upper elementary grades, these young students learn in a concrete way the meaning of Christian social living based on the principal of justice and charity. This year the Commission has set up for the clubs a program of study and action under the general theme, "We need one another." It stresses the interdependence of urban and rural people. PRESCRIPTION CHEMISTS "Quotation from Gfenesis 700 BC Copyright D-5 ORGANIZE PARENTS AND FRIENDS OF THE HANDICAPPED Parents arid friends of handicapped children will form an organization when they hold their second meeting Nov. 17 in the Clay street school therapy center at Woodstock. The center is maintained by the MoHenry county chapter of the Illinois Association for the Crippled, which sponsored a meeting Wednesday night to discuss a parents' organization; Julius Heberlein of Woodstock was named temporary chairman of the group and he explained how parent organizations had been operated in other counties. He said that mutual problems could be discussed and often resolved in parent groups and programs could be planned for the benefit of all. It Pays to Advertise 4-H Town. Inc., Shows Progress 4-H Town, Inc., realized a net profit of $696.41 during the past year, it was revealed at the annual meeting held last week. Income items included 5760.23 from the McHenry County Fair association, which represented half of the 19§3 fair profits; $944.77 from state aid on new improvements made; $375 rental income from carnival and circus activities; $434 in donations; $150 fiom sale of alfalfa hay from the race track infield and $9.50 miscellaneous income. Expense items totalled $1,980. New' officers of 4-H Town, elected at the meeting, include George Rasmussen, Woodstock, re-elected president; Robert Gardner, Solon Mills, vice-president; Mrs. Clarence . Seegers, Marengo, secretary; and H. R. Kiltz, Woodstock, re-elected treasurer. It will be remembered that the corporation leases from the county on a 99-year lease part of the grounds. It also owns ten acres at the rear which includes the parking lot, livestock area and the east end of the race track. All of the permanent buildings and improvements are owned and maintained by the corporation. At the annual meeting it was reported that the Pair association wanted to sell the 30-foot strip of land along the west side of the fairgrounds to the corporation for one dollar, thus putting all property in one hand. Membership in 4-H Town, Inc., includes all members of the Farm and Home Bureau boards and the chairman of the county board of supervisors.
