Avoid excessive self-consciousness and oversuspiciousness of remarks and actions of others is helpful. In overcoming defects or handicaps, one should also avoid the extremes of overcompensation, such as excessive selfassertion, over aggressiveness, cruelty, unscrupulousness and boastfulness. Remember that we need to a certain degree the feeling of inadequacy and inferiority. We need to know our own limitations. It has been said that the great are the most humble. Planning our lives along the lines of legitimate ambition is essential. A desire to improve one's status, in business and social life, is commendable.
