Out of a mass of bowling acoi-es, our "Girl Friday" plucked a lUfty 255 game bowled by Dan Weber in the Forester league at the Palace. ^ad a call from the Johnsburg Bowling Bar asking that we attend a special event December 26 when their new automatic pinspotters are unvoted. We had no idea of mentioning that fellow again this week, but Clarence Niesen and Dan Justen thought we shouldn't miss. It seems that "Muggs" can't stand that song "This Ole House." Turned the radio off for two hours the other day. When he turned it on -- yep -- that same tune greeted his ears. What split Clarence's side, as we sat at the counter, was seeing "Blondie" opep a door under the "back bar*' and -- Whang®! Twas off the hinges. "This Ole House," quljiped Clarence. Have you tried your ihome town stores first? The / Warriors have 1a busy schedule ahead. On Friday night Ubartyville will be here. Saturday^ night the Fulton and Cuda boys travel to Crystal Lake. Before we go to press again, a third game will be history. That will be a non-conference game at Marengo next Tuesday night. Grade School Boys Start Basketball Schedule Saturday The McHenry American Legion Post No. 491 will sponsor basketball for grade school boys again this year. Games will be played on Saturday mornings at 8:45 and 9:45 in the Girls' Gym* at the high school. Wonder Lake did not enter .a team this year so one team draws a bye each week. Coach Cliff Fulton, secretary of the league, will give the "bye" team instructions each week. Father McGowan, a great leader in promoting healthful recreation for our youth, has been named president of the league. Spectators are welcomed and encouraged to attend the'games. -- McHenry Recreation -- Commercial-- Coxy Cottage 2, Kleinhans Lumber 1. J. Martinucci, 201-531. MCHS FROSH-SOPHS WIN LOW-SCORING GAME FROM WARREN In a low-scoring game, the MCHS Frosh-Soph basketball team defeated Warren High here Friday night by a score of 27 to 22. Close guarding, but not too many fouls, told the story of the game. McHenry's sharpshooters missed lay-up shots and looked none too sharp except in setting up their scoring opportunities. It was in the final minutes of the game that the young McHenry team looked like take-charge fellows after the visitors-threatened to take over. Ladies -- Sportsman's Inn, 3 -- Mark's Sport Store, 0. The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 22-04, \Wth a total of^sixty-eight members, has been disenrolled upon the receipt of orders from the Cleveland office. The reason this action is being taken, according to the letter, is because numerous complaints were received regarding various members of the flotilla. According to Flotilla Commander Joe Armondo, these "numerous complaints" were about six particular members of the flotilla. Their actions reflected back to Flotilla 22-04, giving it an unjust reputation. As a result, these six members were disenrolled due to those complaints received. Unexpectedly, the entire flotilla will be disenrolled dut to those complaints received. Flotilla Commander Joe Armondo, of Fox Lake, Illinois, commented on the action taken by Cleveland. He said, "The Chain-O-Lakes must have an organization to render assistance of this nature, as has been provided by the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 22-04, in order to maintain water safety. Without such a service, the fatality rate will climb to an unexpected height." John Shay, Secretary of the Flotilla, from Johnsburg, Illinois, stated, "It's beyond my reasoning as to why this flotilla is actually being disenrolled." He added, "We've served the area on a twenty-four hour a day basis, receiving no pay for our services, saved many lives, promoted water and boating safety, and aided those in need while on water. 1 can only add that this region will become a first-class death trap to boaters and water sport fans, if the flotilla is disactivated. We do not look far any thanks. It's our job to render assistance, and we've been doing it." .« McHenry's Warrior basketball varsity .team was well on the way to their first victory Friday night with visiting Warren when lightning fetruck in the person of David Decker. The final bell found the home team on the wrong end of a 60-56 score. The first two ' minutes ldoked like ja breeze for Warren. Then came ' a burst gt good fortune that saw( McHenry froge t&: 7 point lead at quarter time and 9 point margin at half time. Warren butscbred the home favorites 05 tojf.,7 kv. Uie third quarter to\ draw' within two points. The visitors hadn't looked like a happy group during the first.^alf, but things were looking! i»pH%them at this point. Decker was every place the ball bounced and his shooting was flicker than RoyRogers with a six-gun. When he Wasn't breaking away for a setup, he was popping 'em through from outside. That frail looking boy was nothing but trouble for McHenry.» None can say that the Warriors gave anything but their best. They Inept up the old fight, but simply could not ward off the last half dash of the visitors. ivafren (60) 'Howard, £ ... Richardson, f M i n o g e , c- . . . . Beshel, g .... Decker, g ....
