AUXILIARY NEWS By Jean Weyland > •!• 'H-M-fr <1 -i A joint meeting of the V.F.W. and auxiliary was held Monday, Jan. 31, with many important questions discussed for the coming year. The combined meeting of the two organizations is held once a year for this purpose. More than forty members were present to take part in the discission, after which movies were slhown and a lunch served. SUmpiit Services Conducted In Texas Leon Slimpin, 62, a native of McHenry and a former resident of Elgin, died Friday, Feb. 4, fn a veterans' hospital in Houston, Tex. He had been ill six months. A veteran of World War I, he worked for a utilities company in Houston, where he resided since 1912. He was born Aug. 3, 1892, in McHenry. Survivors are a son, three brothers and a sister. Military rites were held Tuesday Ln Houston, where burial also took place. AUGUSTA MALSCH, FORMER RESIDENT. ' DIED IN WISCONSIN Mrs. Augusta Malsch, 88, for many years a resident of McHenry, died at her home at Genoa- City, Wis., Monday, Feb. 7. In 1928 she moved to Wisconsin to reside with a son, John, at Pell Lake. Surviving are two sons, Ernest of North Bristol and Charles of Madison, Wis.; one daughter, Mrs. Ida Thompson of Harvard; twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. After learning that a shot had been fired through a window of their home, they immediately called the sheriff's office, members of which found a slug from a 22- caliber rifle on the floor.
