Strong Antioch Five On Wednesday The Elgin Regional basketball tournament optens next Tuesday night, March l, in the Elgin high school gym. Coach Fulton's Warriors face the strong Antioch five in the first ,game Wednesday night at 6:45. Antioch made a great showing, last year in the same tournament and will be back with addeid strength from all reports. As in recent years, each game will be considered as a separate session. The gym will be cleared after each game in order to make room for the reserved seats for the next game. The cars were driven by Frank C. Sandblom of Palmyra, Wis., who was travelling south on Rt. 31, and John H. Greenlee of Cherry Valley, who was driving west on Rt. 176. FORESTERS HAVE TOP-NOTCH ACTS FOR FIRST NIGHT Slate Basketball Tourney Opens In MCHS Gym Sunday Entertainment for the first Sunday of the Forester Basketball tournament at the McHenry high school gym will be provided by real top-notch performers, people who have reached the heights of success in their field in the youth movements of the Illinois State Court. For five years the State Court has sponsored "Talent contests" and has uncovered future greats of the entertainment world. To be presented on the evening of February 27 will be the winners of both the 1854 and 1955 talent contests. You've seen professionals and enjoyed them, but you "ain't" seen anything until you have witnessed simon pure amateurs who deliver sterling performance along with the simple innocence of youth. The 1954 flashes will be Edmund and Kathleen Goethals of 1306 17th street, East Moline, who specialize in acrobatic dancing. Edmund is 13 years old while his sister, Kathleen, is a grand 8 years. They attend St. Mary's grammar school in East Moline. Both are members of St. Mary's Court, No. 1790, of East Moline. Many Talents The 1955 talent winners are another brother and sister team consisting of Richard and Joan Conrath of 4815 N. Washtenaw Avenue, Chicago. Richard, 15 years and a 2nd year student at St. George High School in Evanston, specializes on the accordion. His sister, Joan, is 8 years and a third grade pupil at St. Matthias School in Chicago. She posesses many talents in that she sings and acts, tap dances and does her stint as a baton twirler. Richard will play "Sharpshooters March"; Joan will sing "Make Love To Me" and will follow with a tap dance to the tune of "Mister Tap Toe"; in a duet Richard will play "Illinois March" while Joan does her baton mastery. Richard and Joan are Rangers in St. Eugene Court No. 287, Chicago. A third entry is promised but for the present is a mystery. In spite of leading 26 to 20 at half time the Warriors were not as sharp as in previous games. Lake Forest had obviously planned a defense to bottle tip Dick joosten. Three early fouls on Nowak caused Coach Fulton to yank him in the first half. He was back at the start of the lajst half, but the whistle caught up to him.
