When the road construction program gets under way this year, these shrubs must be removed. If you desire >to save the shrubs, please move them before they will be ruined by the men working on ' the roads. Anyone desiring to burn out empty lots around their property before doftig so, please contact .the Lakemoor volunteer firemen to aid you in this undertaking so that serious accidents can be avoided due to the fires getting out of control and spreading to the homes. Civilian Defense Meeting Sunday, April 3, there will be a meeting of the civilian defense organization at the communityfirehouse at 4 p.m. Mr. Kamin, Jr., director, has asked that all who have ever been contacted in regard to this program, no matter how long ago, please attend this meeting. Anyone who lives in Lilymoor or Lakemoor is cordially invited to attend also. Persons with radio communication knowledge are especially asked to attend. For any further information contact Mr. I&pun&i at 521-M-l after 7:30 p.m. Candidate for Trustee Roy Morrison, running on the Progressive Party ticket, States the following: "To get right down to the point, I have always been under the assumption .that I could do a better job than the next feHow. Not feeling that I was more superior to the frext man, but just had better ideas, now I have the opportunity -to. prove my point. Thank you. Roy Morrison." Mr. Morrison was commander of the V.F.W. in McHenry this past year and last week was re-elected as commander for 1955. He is also assistant director of civilian defense in ILakemoor. Auxiliary Meeting Last Wednesday evening the auxiliary held their annual election of officers and the following women were elected to hold offices this coming year: President, Irene Godima; vice-president, Helen Para; secretary, Ann Brzezinski; treasurer, Lou Bittermain; trustees, Mesdamea Kraus, 9'Leary, Sulak, Hyatt and Kibbe. The chaplain. Marge Beahler, was re-elected and Historian Pat Morrison and also Ways and Means Chairman Helen Bucftwalter. Installation of the new officers will take place on April 27 on the regular meeting night. There will be a hot dinner served at 17 p.m. Husbands are invited and -also the firemen. Helen Para is chairman of this affair. Pat Morrison should be contacted a week before the dinner so that they will know how much food to purchase. Hostesses last Weteesd&y eve« ning were Mrs. Strnad, Mts> Williams, Mrs. Patterson and Mrs. Vallone. Apple slices and coffee were served after the meeting. A new member was welcomed into the club, Mrs. Daly. Death in Community Mr. Warren of Lakemoor became ill Saturday morning and the ambulance was called to 'take him to Woodstock hospital about 7:30 p.m. that evening but Mr. Warren passed away on the way to the hospital. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Warren, and four children at home, Ruby, Polly, Patsy and Bobby, and two married daughters. The wake and funeral were- held in Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Booster, Mrs. Pope and Mrs. Shaw attended the wake on Tuesday. The entire village extends sympathy -to the bereaved family. Birthdays Last Saturday. Shfcron Wade was two years old. Sharon is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Wade of Lakemoor. In the evening Mr. and Mrs. Cleve Wade brought a nice cake over to Sharon and spent the evening with her. Wednesday, March 30, Walter Para will celebrate his birthday. : Happy you. General News Saturday evening it was iiict to see the Bradys bock tjjroh their Florida vacation. Bath Harry and Othele axe the icjnvy of the town with their beautiful sun tans. Having driven home in a snowstorm on Saturday, j we can imagine what they were thinking of and wishing they were back in the sunshine' in Florida. This past week I received two cards from our travelling residents. One was from. Joe Yaeger, who writes that he has been basking in the California Sunshine and that he took a 30- mile hoat t^ip from Los Angeles on a glass-bottom boat and enjoyed the wonders of the sea immensely. The card was from Catalina and he stated he was staying a few days to see the sights there. Mr. and Mrs. Saoiey sent a card from Miami Beach, where they have been the past month, and will not be home until about April 6. They also are enjoying themselves in the warmth of the Florida sunshine. GOVERNOR'S CONFERENCE Governor William G. Stratton told reporters at a Springfield press conference last week that he is definitely supporting personnel bills- and the proposed revenue amendment to the state constitution. Both these matters are pending in the General Assembly. The governor said the personnel bills "provide for one of the biggest improvement in state administration in a long, long time." He said he would like very much to see the revenue amendment passed, but "not at the expense ofr the judicial reform amendment" Gfraphic figures on increasing attendance at Illinois schools were quoted by the governor from a report of the static school problems commission. The increase in 1951-52 was" 18,000; in 1953-54 it was 66,000, and will be an estimated 50,000 in 1955-56.
