Approximately fifty firemen were present from neighboring towns to attend (the meeting and spent a social evening. Refreshments were served. Cai^pemtier he has again named Mr. Carpentier to be. superintendent of the Antique Auto and Sports Car meet at the Illinois State Fair. The fair will be held Aug. 12 through Aug. 21; Secretary Carpentier said work on arrangements for the meet will be started immediately and that till is year's show will be "better and m^re colorful than ever." The climax of /the meet, the parade of antique, special merit anjJ sports cars in front of the grandstand just before the start of the 100-mile auto race on Saturday, Aug. 20, will be more dramatically presented than in past years, Mr. Carpentier said. Instead of a single line of cars moving past the grandstand, certain classes of cars will be grouped to make a more impressive showing and ito pay a greater tribute to .the "distinguished ancestors of our fine, modiern cars," Secretary Carp en/tier said. Throughout fair week, about 20 outstanding cars representing different manufacturing times will be on exhibit in the same location as previous years, on Friendship Walk, just west of tf.ie grandstand entrance, Mr. Carpentier said.
