Jr., and Pauline Kaifemba proved themselves champions in the bowling sponsored *>y the Kiwanis olub. Eddy's high game was 132 and Pauline's was 111. On next Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. they wlal receive their trophy. Congratulations to these two youngsters. This ends the Saturday morning games for the children for this year and perhaps next year the children will again be able to compete in this wonderful sport. Thanks to the men and women wlho devoted their Saturday mornings for this goad cause. The trophy was given for high game on that one particular day. Congratulations are also due to the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kawell, George Kawell, and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mercure, Rosemary, upon their winning of the • Kiwanis club annual merit award. This award was based on scholarship, leadership, honesty and | we are sure Esther would like nothing better to have happen to her. This past weekend brought a few of our summer residents out to open up their summer homes. Henry Stencil is getting the touse ready for Margaret and the boys, who have been living in Florida this past winter. Mrs. Keyes was out this past week, fixing up her place which always looks so nice. This past week Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ericksori were visited by Mr." and Mrs. DoniaM Peterson and Mr. and Mra Carl Peterson of Chicago and on Sunday the Erickson family went to West Chicago to visit with their friends, the Leslies. eers. A suggestion to new bowlers desiring to bowl next fall is that they practice through the summer months so that <tfcey will know a little about it when 'they start bowling with teams next fall. Her presence was massed by all. Mr. Bitterman, the fire chief, installed tfce officers and Helen Para, vice-president, then took over the meeting. A wonderful time was had by all who attended. Scene of Accident Lakemoor was the scene of cme of the most tragic accidents of the season last Saturday night. Our police force is to be commended for the wonderful way in which they handled the situation. Ambulances were ordered before the police even reached the scene of the accident. The victims were removed in workmanship manner and traffic handled perfectly. Ladies League Party Just a reminder that Saturday might is the night of the card and bunco ,party sponsored by the Ladies League. Refreshments will be served. Tickets may be obtained from Helen Buchwaiter. House Committee Meeting There will be a house committee meeting Friday night at 9 p.m. in the fire house. AH members are askedl to attend. In Accident Mr. and Mrs. Ail Godina were in an accident on their way home from work Monday night. Their new car was completely (demolished but very luckily the injuries sustained were not too serious. Irene has a slight concussion and bruises arid A1 was just 'bruised. Both of them wish to thank everyone who has been so kind to them since the accident and all the good wishes sure have helped to make Irene have a speedy recovery from t)he accident. To the families of its victims we extend our sympathy in Che bereavement. Drainage Problem Monday morning the engineer of waterways division of Illinois and Mr. McDermott walked along the Lily Lake drainage to Pistakee Bay and took twenty-two pictures of the condition of the drainage. Rep. A. B. McConnell of Woodstock is doing all he can to pass the drainage hill to eliminate the flood conditions of our Lily Lake drainage channel. Shop at Home and SAVE! (Six Servings) 1 pound snap beans, OR 2 packages frozen cut green brans S tablespoons margarine 2 apples, cored and diced 1 cup light cream or top milk '/a teaspoon salt Dash of pepper Dash of mace Cut fresh beans into 1-incb lengths and cook in % cup boiling water with 1 teaspoon salt until jusl tender, about 15 minutes. If frozen beans are used, follow cooking directions on box. Be careful not tc jvercook. While beans cook, melt margarine in skillet. Add diced apples and fry gently about 5 minutes, until just tender but not soft (If apples have tender skins, do not pare.) Add cream or top.milk, salt, . pepper, and mace. Drain beasts. We extend our deepest sympathy to his widow, Clara, and his two children, Ronald and Donna. Receives Awards Tuesday evening, April 26, was & big night for two of our younger set. Taken to Hospital Last Saturday afternoon, Mrs. Marge Fischer was taken by ambulance to the Woodstock hospital. How long she will have to remain is not determined as yet.
