Those in the legal process of becoming effectiv^ are the zoning, liquor and police and traffic ordinances. These will become effective in the* next ten days to two weeks. ^ ^ . May we reiterate that this organization is and J^ill be performing duties vital t(^ every resident of the community and everyone is invited. All of you that have been wishing for a chance to participate in the function of the village come on Sunday and take part in this meeting. Fun Festival Have you noticed the attractive stickers that are being dis- ' played on cars fpr the purpose of advertising the Fun Festival ? There are a few more available for anyone wishing to have them anid can be obtained from Mrs. Ruth Smith, Paul Struck or Jake Levesque. & Mrs. Elma Nelson has printed posters which are both decorative and eye-catching and are being displayed in prominent places throughout the county announcing our affair to. .the general public. Registration is still open for the 4-6 year,, age > bracket of young ladies " wishing to take part in the Miss McCullom Lake contest. Mrs. Marge Peterson is in charge and can be reached at 549-J-l any time of day or evening. Registration may fee closed at any time, so mothers are urged to enter the wee ones now. Many mbre volunteers are needed to furnish cakes or bakery goods for the bake sale. If you are handy in the ^ ciilinary department, plan to whip up a special concoction that will delight a prospective . customer. Mrs. EM Hammerstein is chairman and if you care to commit yourself, call her at 678-W-2 and tell her what you plan to offer. The planning group for the Fun Festival is still meeting every Tuesday night at the beachhouse and everyone (men and women) are invited to come* and share in the final arrangements. The affair will be held for three days -- July 15, 16 and 17. The spotlight will be on McCullom Lake for these three days and it would be a "feather in your cap" to really give the public something spectacular In the carnival line. Ladies of the Lake Held a short business meeting Tuesday, June 14, at the beach. Anna Bushfeld, Elizabeth Reiter and Ethel Schmidt were accepted as new members. Hostesses in charge of refreshments were Betty Murray, Louise Hammerstein and Lil Hansen. The next scheduled meeting will be Tuesday, June 28, 8 p.m. at the beach. Zeal With Appeal The "old duffers" ball game was a sight to behold last Sunday at McDonald's field. Two teams were selected but at the last minute, four men -failed to show. Fortunately, the real young men were on hand to watch and offered their services and as a result, Johnny Rourke, Kenny Sawdo, Johnny Scarbrough and Sonny Hocin filled in. The group momentarily put aside their ages and double plays and fancy putouts at first base i brought cheers from the spectators. J The lineup for team one inj eluded Ed Crick, Johnny Scar- I brough, George McOuat, Allen ! McKim, Lew Scholz, Jay Crick, ! Bill Brennan, Joe DeMar and i Sonny Hocin. Team two was made up of Ray Aalto, Johnny Rourke, Jake Levesque, Ken Sawdo, Ken and Chuck Ingersol, Paul Nitz, Leonard Mager and Gerry Burg. The final score? That was a whalloping 19-9, with team one emerging from the fracas victorious! free refreshments were provided by McDonald's. New Horizons Mrs., Irene Ostrom Pederson, with her four children, left this morning by air to join her husband, since January in Fairbanks, Alasfka. The Pedersons will fly, to Seattle, Wash., where they will board an Alaskan airline plane for the final lap to the northland. What a wonderful adventure that should be. Mr. Pederson is a civilian worker in construction in Alaska. Romantic Interlude In 1930, Ruth and Bob Smith graduated in the same class from Albert Lea high school in Allyert Lea, Minn. Last week, they motored to Albert Lee for the twenty-fifth class reunion. Dinner and dancing were on the agenda. Hip, Hip, Hooray The loud cheers emanating from the Sesko household are nothing more serious than Beverly practicing for her new job. She was appointed official cheer leader for St. Pat's at the close of the school year. Out of Town Visitors Marie and Vic Howe's place was really jumping last weekend. The many friends who came to help them celebrate Father's Day and their nineteenth wedding anniversary on June 20 were Mr. and Mrs. Phillip J. Oleinick and daughters, Norma and Mrs.. George Arndt, husband* and daughter, Linda Arndt, And Mr. and Mrs. L. V. Padelford. Last Monday Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Howe of Chicago arrived to spend a week with Marie arid Vic. They will then "motor ;to Detroit, Mich., for the balance of their vacation. Wilhelmina and Stanislaus Le- Grand and son, Ronnie, of Chicago were welcome visitors at Jean ajid Hugh McDonald's home last weekend. Birthdays and Anniversaries Belated greetings to those born early in June. Paul C. Brendle celebrated his natal day June 8, and his son, Terrence Paul, was 2 on June i. Kenny Sesko was a handsome lad of fifteen on June 6. Chuck Thacker doesn't show his age but he was 27 on June 10. Mrs. Margaret Long, who is still a patient at Memorial hospital, Woodstock, marked her eighty-fifth birthday June 18. Elma Nelson sh&red the attention with- Earl on Father's Day. it was her birthday June' 19. j Young Johnny Boyle is catching up with his lovely mom, Lorraine, who will be a "little over 21" next Monday, June 27. Speaking of the Boyles, big John should have his garage done in time for Lorraine's birthday next year! At the rate he's going, anyway. were married four years on June - Mr. and Mrs. Paul C. Brendle '2. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Maxwell will be celebrating thirty-one years of wedded happiness tomorrow, June 24. Europe Pound Florence and Lee Larson left by air for Sweden yesterday morning. They plan to spend five or si i- weeks in the old country. No doubt they will have some fabulous tales to relate on their return. What a Life Myrtle and Roy (Doc) Kinsey just returned from a leisurely six-day trip to St. Louis, Mo. They went by way of Springfield and Lincoln.
