Mosher X FORTY YEARS AGO From Issue of Sept. 28, 1915 Items of Local Interest-- « Rollo Babcock has moved -his fomily to the Fred Schnorr house on Main street. Peter Worts has moved his family from the N. A. Huemann house oh the corner of Elm and Court streets to one of the Peter J. Freund houses on Waukegan street. One of the classiest roadster" now owned in McHenry is being driven by "Bob" Sehaefer, who has come into possession of the •latest model Buick. Sewerage In McHettr^-- This question has again sprung up among a number of property owners of the village who seem very much in favor of the improvement. In fact, so enjthused have they become that steps already have been taken to ascertain the cost of such an improvement. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO iFfotn Issue of Sept. 11, 1930 Family Reunion-- Relatives fkand guests of the Satton family gathered at the summer home of John B, Kelter at £ake Defiance last Sunday for .their second family reunion and ' picnic. The following were present: Mr. and Mrs. George Hoelscher of Wheaton. Mr. and Mrs. fcobert Sutton and children, "Mrs. iTrank Heckman and son. Mrs. Alice Bowles and son of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sutton of Elmhurst; Mr. and Mrs. William Lester, -Michael and Nellie Cleary, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Larkin and daughters and Mr. arfd Mrs. Hamilton of Elgin; Mrs. Etta Cooiiey, L. W. Cooney and son of Cleveland, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sutton and family, Miss Marjorie Phalin, Mr. and . Mrs. E. J. Knox and daughters, Mrs. Clarence .Whiting and son, Will, John Sut- "ton and Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Burke of McHenry. shop on Elm street was visited by robbers last Thursday night. When the robbery occurred the first time it was /believed that the thieves hid inthe building until the station was lotiked up for the evening, but since then it has been learned that they had keys to the building and entered both times through the front door. The Agatha shop was also broken into Thursday night and about a dollar in change taken as the only loot obtained by the robbers who narrowly escaped being caught. They evidently did not know that Mrs. Anna Howard lived in her tailor shop next door and as they were climbing to gain entrance through a window into her shop she became awakened and spread the alarm. Thomas Family Reunion-- The home of Mr. and Mrs. Elbert A. Thomas, just west of this city, was the scene of a family reunion Sunday when members of the Thomas family for miles around gathered to spei\d the day. There were eighty-nine guests present to enjoy the day and nearly every family was represented at the reunion, including four generations, which consisted of gray-haired greatgrandp& rents down to younger children. TEN YEARS AGO From Issue of Sept. 6, 1945 Mrs. John E. Freund-- While the word "untimely" has come into too frequent use and therefore of less importance it most certainly describes to the fullest extent the passing of <Sne of McHpnry's well known and loved residents last Saturday, Sept. 1, 1945. Mrs. John E. Freund, 62, passed teway at Victory Memorial hospital, Waukegan, after an illness of thirteen months' duration. Mrs. Kathryn Huff-- The unexpected death of Mrs. Kathryn Huff of Spring Grove was mourned this week by hfer family and a large grdup of friends. Mrs. Huff, 69, was taken ill only two days before she died. With her family she had made her home in Chicago for many years, later moving to Spring Grove. Mrs. Lena Billig-- Mrs. Lena G. Billig. 73, widow of J. A. Billig:. and a native of. Johnsburg', died in Rockford on Sunday, Sept 2. 1945, after several weeks' illness. She was born on Feb. 25, 1872, in Johnsburg, but had resided in Freeport . for many years before moving to Rockford four years ago. MOSE -- GAL 2 Herdrlch-Moifield-- A wedding of exceptional 'beauty was solemnized last Saturday morning at St. Mary's church when Miss Hilda Herdrich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Herdrich, became the bride of Mr. Robert Maifield, son of the Roy Copes. Both families are from West McHenry. Diedrich-Hay-- A lovely August wedding solemnized on Wednesday, Aug. 2&, at St. Peter's, Volo, united in marriage Miss Agnes Diedrich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Diedrich of Volo, and Mr. Donald Hay, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hay of this city.
