Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's church here Friday morning. Rev. M J. McEvoy, pastor of the church, officiating. Eddie Wallis has a fine new pony cart and a new harness for his little Brownie pony. It is supposed that every person knew better than to destroy any of Uncle Sam's property. If not, to the party, or parties, who tore down a mail box last Sunday night, beware, take care. Farvwell [Party-- The young people of th* Ep- Wort h League tendered one of their number, Miss Ethel Jones, a farewell party at the home of her sister, Mrs. C. W. Goodell. last evening. Miss Jones will soon leave to make her home at Meriden, 111. Dwyer-Walsh-- The marriage of Miss Elizabeth Dwyer of Elgin and Mr. Walter Walsh,- the latter of McHenry, will take place Saturday morning at St. Mary's church, Elgin. The ceremony will be quiet and of simple appointment and will be followed by a breakfast to be served at the home of the bride's uncle, Thomas Dwyer, on Linden avenue. Hells (Hardware pusiness-- F. L. McOmber, who during the last quarter of a century has conducted a hardware store on the West Side, has sold out and will retire from business activities for a time at least. The purchasers are C. J. Reihansperger and W. J. Donavin of West Chicago, who, according to 'present plans, will take possession . of the business the "first of next week. Items lof Local Interest-- , A deer for Sayer's animal park at Pistakee Bay died while being hauled from the depot in a wagon on Tuesday evening. Ben Hiller of Volo, who recerttly purchased the Mrs. Emma Phillips home on South Water street, expects to move his family to this village some time in the near future. Native of (McHenry (Pies McHenry friends and relatives were saddened to learn of the death on Saturday, Sept. 22, in Elgin, of Miss Loretta Quinn. Miss Quinn died after a lingering illness, at the age of sixftythree. " . The first entry consisted of a show herd of purebred Milking Shorthorns from New York. They are coming from the Last Chance Ranch near Lake Placid. Owners of the continents finest dairy animals will compete for over $40,000 in cash prizes that will be offered in the competitions featuring six breeds -- Ayrshires, Brown Swiss, Guernseys, Jerseys, Holsteins and Milking Short'horns. SIX FIELD MEN ENGAGED IN EGG LAW ENFORCEMENT Six full-time field men are now engaged in Illinois egg law enforcement duties. They began work Aug. 1.
