Ray Horenberger, Jr., has completed a sixteen-week course in stenography at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Xnd., and is now enroute to the Far East. Army P.F.C. Eugene J. Dowe, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Dowe, Route 6, McHenry, recently returned to Fort BelvoiV, Va., after helping construct the "DEW" (Distant Early Warning) line in radar stations north of the Arctic Circle in Canada. Dowe's unit, the 588th engineer construction battalion, unloaded high schools. The unit for sewing is for two girls Wfith their own ironing board and sewing machine, which means no more standing in line, waiting for the iron. The desks are constructed so that the whole working surface is adjustable in height, each wired for electricity and connected to a floor outlet. The laboratories are equipped with built-in cabinets for storage and are used for beginning, advanced and children's courses. Between these two departments, an ideal arrangement is for a lecture room with arm chairs for note taking and written lessons. This would also be available for adult classes. L.USK RITES Mrs. Louis V. Lusk, well known in McHenry, died at her home in Round Lake on Nov. 9. Eddy Howard will present a one-hour' stage show. The celebrity dance, starring Eddy Howard, will start, at 8:30 p.m. and . run to 12:30 and will be held in tlie Legion home. Dr. John T. Gray, jimior vice-commander of the American Legion, who has made the arrangements for this ~t)ig double event, announces that tickets for the stage show may be. obtained at the theatre, while tickets for the dance to follow may be obtained from Df. Gray or from Robert Conway, . the steward of the American Legion.
