Owner McHenry State Bank, Clerking PUBLIC PULSE LEUKEMIA APPEIL Dear McHenry County Friends: If my heart wasn't about to break I doubt if I would ask you to read this tragic true story, as I don't pretend to be a writer. But surely when you have finished reading it, you will understand my reason for so doing. In March, 1944, Robert Englen was reported missing in action. Just one year later, the year he was declared dead, his younger brother, Richard, was killed, giving his life also for his country. Within a few months, their mo-1 ther followed her boys to her place in heaven. Another member of this family, the only girl, is now married. She is Mrs. Robert Christopher of Cicero, 111. she has a little girl, 5, named Kathy, and a brother, aged 3 Kathy is suffering severely with leukemia. Knowing how wonderfully rei sponsive the people of the county are, I've thought many times of asking for financial help for this family. They are not destitute but hospital and medicinal expenses are more than eating up their salary. Now the need is even greater. Kathy's blood is type O negative. It is difficulty to iffiyMnOfr Please, if you have this type blood, would you call me, Mrs. Jan Hansen, at Wonder Lake 5162. I would let them knotir immediately that there are donors available. V If you would like to help them financially, please send money or checks to Kathy Christopher Fund, Box 17, Wonder Lake, 111. It just doesn t seem right that they will probably lose their little girl and all their material, things as well. Please pray for Kathy. Her family's constant prayer is that she will not be asked to suffer unbearably.
