The motion was carried to finance "the installation of entrance lights, with donations from each family. The by-laws were read and were given a vote of approval. After the meeting was adjourned, coffee and cake were served by several of the women of the association. Oar Deepest Sympathy To Maurice Fitzgerald, who's Wife, Helen,, died in Memorial hospital Friday, Nov. 25. The Fitzgeralds have been residents "in Lakeland Park for about a year. . Requiem mass was offered on (Tuesday, Nqv. 30, at Presentation church in Chicago. Good News To hear Mrs. Lucille Stevens has been dismissed from Woodstock Memorial hospital and returned home in time to spend Thanksgiving with her daughter .. and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Wally Laurence. . Sorry,/To Hear Larry Strandquist has been a patient in the Highwood hospital In Highwood, 111., for the last two weeks. We are glad to hear from recent reports that he is doing better and is expected home this week. Better hurry and get wefll, Larry, or all the pheasants will be gone! It's A Small World When you discover that one of your neighbors is also a relative. Mrs. James McEnery recognized the name Lynn Beayer in the telephone directory. A telephone call confirmed her suspicions that Mrs. Beaver is her cousin. They are looking forward to getting together to renew acquaintances. Combination Celebration A combination birthday and Thanksgiving celebration . was held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Al Donarski on Thursday, Nov. 24. Coming home to help their father ceieibrate his birthday were Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Donarski, who came from West Charles, Va., where he is stationed while in service, and Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Donarski and children, Darlene and Norden. The Albert Kujak family from Lakeland Park joined in the celebration. Many happy returns. Harrowing Experience Talk about the safety devices of new cars! Returning from Springfield the other day, Tom Gleeson and wife were discussing their first trip to the city of Lincoln's Tomb. As the conversation got around to the new car which they were driving back for the highway department, Jetta asked if she might try driving the new safety featured auto. Tom literally handed her the steering wheel (rod and all). Leaving the car in the ditch, the Gleesons waited for Bud Uttich to come pick them up and drive them safely back to Lakeland Park. Surprise Housewarming Friends and relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Syd Davis came Saturday evening, Nov. 18, for a surprise housewarming. They supplied the food (everything from beer to barbecue) and also presented the Davises with many gifts for their new home. The guests were Mr. and Mrs. F! Brieschke of Forest Park, Mr. and Mrs. John Grentzner, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Losey, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Crandell, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Schaffner, all from Chicago, Donald Brieschke from Forest Park and Miss Linda Losey. After visiting Larry, Sr., in Highnyood hospital, the Strandquist family had Thanksgiving dinner with the Larry Strandquist, Jr., family in Wheaton. Peter Reading, Mrs. Heber's nephew, returned home with them to spend the weekend. Ed and Grace Mandiara and daughter, Melodie, left Thanksgiving morning to spend the weekend with Mrs. Mandziara's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Bull, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. On ttteir return trip to Lakeland Park, they stopped in Wausau, Wis., to visit Mr. and Mrs. August Halkoski. On Friday, Nov. 25, Mrs. Chas. Bates took her children to Chicago to shop and Billy had his chance to visit with Santa Claus. The Charles Messels spent Thanksgiving with Mrs. Ed Kohler of Delavan, Wis. The Bud Uttichs had Thanksgiving turkey with^he jjohn family of Chicago. Mr. -and Mrs. Jim Quaver spent the day with . the William Fryes of Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. James McEnery went to Lake Geneva to spend the day with'the Horace Usners. The McEnery's son, Rev. James McEnery, from Muscoda, Wis., joined them. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Gleeson were hosts to Mr. and Mrs. Ron Richardson and children, John and Patricia, from Round Lake. Mrs. Lucille Kubit entertained her sisters and husbands, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley prytula and-Mr. and Mrs. Leo Allender, and a friend, William Grewe, all from Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Uhles spent the holiday in LaGrange, in the hdme of Mr. and Mrs. George Gracyk to celebrate a reunion with friends from New York, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Strunsky. (Oh well, we can always diet tomorrow.) The Joe Baurs entertained Mr. and Mrs. Harold Knecker, and Patsy, Miss Ceil Engerski of Chicago and Mr. and Mrs. Steigerwald of Twin Lakes, Wis. Lucky these folks were, too, because Kitty's tank of gas ran out just as the dinner was completed. The Gene Johnsons had Mr. and Mrs. Kosick of Antioch and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Penrod of Crystal Lake. The Roy Homos were visited by Mrs. Fred Hansen and Erna Hansen, also Kenneth Glade. The Walter Bieszczads had quite a houseful for the holiday; no casualties, except to the turkey and to the pinochle deck. Mr, and Mrs. Chester Johnson spent their holiday in Chicago with relatives and brought Miss Barbara Wells home with them for a visit. Sheila .<• Day had dinner at the home of her, hysban(Mo-be, John Gjradnt. Lillian Cimeley's brother, John, has been visiting her this past week from the state teachers college at iJeKalb. Lillian drove him back on Sunday just as the snow started to fall. Miss Judy Homo was the first little lady to see Santa Claus this year. She let him know she is expecting him to bring her a doll this year. On Sunday, the Homos entertained Mrs. William Peterson and kiddies from Palatine. On Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. George Rennwanz of Chicago visited the Gene Johnsons. George and Larry Johnson went hunting the next morning. Quite a hunter Larry is turning out to be. Last Saturday, Mary Lou Day had a birthday party celebrating her tenth birthday. There were seven little girls: Gail Parks, Eileen Homo, Roberta Johnson, Linda Dustheimer, Jackie Noef and Mary Lou's sister, Jo Anne. Games were played, with a prize for everyone. Yards. Aberdeen-Angus are seen in largest number amopg the five breeds that will be in competition. There are 615 Angus listed. Herefords are second with 415 head, closely followed by 396 head of Shorthorns. There are 263 Polled Herefords. This breed is showing for the first time at Chicago this ye»ar in its annual national show; and 154 purebred Polled Shorthorns are reported. Nearly 1000 head of swine, representing nine breeds are being exhibited. Poland Chinas lead with a total of 173 head. Yorkshires, a rapidly increasing breed noted for lean meat yields, rank second with 155 entries. Itt tbe carcass competition, 247 barrows are listed. In this contest, entries are judged alive, then slaughtered, and the dressed carcasses are; evaluatd by meat experts.
