These articles seemed to be a selling point Concerning the amount of increased taxes that would be involved and the very urgent need for the high school addition due to the increased number of students. This is true and we all agree that additional space is required for the students. We all agree that nothing is too fine to educate our children -- the present and future citizens of this country. But, is it necessary to spend an amount in excess of one million dollars in the present high school location? It has been stated by some school board members that not too far m the distant future the high school may have to have a second unit located elsewhere. This is necessary because there will be no more vacant property available when another addition is required to handle the ever increasing student body. Would it not be wise to take a few moments and consider this re-location problem now before this Amount in excess of one million dollars is spent in a very limited space? The funds being spent for vacant property at the present location could purchase fltr more vacant property elsewhere making "more funds available for the better equipped class rooms. A few blocks away means nothing in this day and age when students drive to school or are transported by school busses. It also has been stated by these same school board members that property along the south side of Waukegan road, now the location of two homes, will be purchased at a cost in excess of $21,000 and these two lots will be used for tennis courts. Tennis courts are necessary but is it necessary to pay this price for lots to * put them on ? Think what $21,000 could buy in the way of shop equipment and other classroom equipments It is my opinion that the school is necessary but before I could vote yes for this amount to be spent I would like' to see the funds spent more wisely- in a less costly location now rather than another bond issue at a later date for the second high School urtit.
