Poplar Grove was the opposing team. Richmond lost one game and won one game. The cheerleaders did quite well. The seventh and eighth grades are planning to have a play, sing songs and play games at their Christmas party. They drew names for Christmas gifts. \ The upper grades are enjoying the new maps very much. They have been ice skating a couple of times for supervised recess.,, All of the reading classes are enjoying the new readers which .they received at the beginning of school. The various rooms look very festive as the children add decorations from day to day. The dec- • orations in the reading room were made by the second grade. School closes tomorrow for the holidays and reopens Jan. 3. Bach room will have a party tomorrow afternoon, with refreshments served by the room jnothers. We have heard rumors that jolly old St. Nick, himself, will be on hand for the party. Mrs. Reith, the reading teacher, spent the weekend of Dec. 3 in Chicago visiting friends. She saw a play and. the decorated trees at the Museum of Science and Industry. There, too, she" saw a play depicting Christmas customs in^Germany, given by, LiUther high school of Chicago. The third graders are working on the play "Scrooge and the Christmas Fairy." The first grade hopes Santa will come Friday afternoon t.o see them. They have been busy getting ready for him. Each child will bring a gift for exchange. Two new girl pupils have enrolled in first grade. Aleta TK^hite came from Greenwood and Terry Stochl came from Downers Grove. Now there are fourteen boys and nine girls in first grade. News of Frank Landry Frank Landry, former resident of Richmond, has been promoted tq the detective division of the Lake Charlies, La., police force.
