(The two busses which serve the eighty-plus children in the community now make two additional stops so that the walking distance, particularly for .those children in the far corner of Unit 4, is not nearly so long. The necessity for parents to drive small children to pick-up points or all the way to school is now almost eliminated. A committee representing the Lakeland Park Property Owners' association met with the school board Dec. 5. the board's regular meeting night. Members of the committee which discussed Lakeland Park's school bus problem with the board were Joan Krater, Bill Krater, Bernie Laurence, Floyd Leigh, Wally Laurence and of the time if we'd send Craig a card. Christmas Is Coming Have you noticed the gay Christmas decorations bedecking our community? Santa, reindeer, snowmen, candles and cheery bright lights and even a few gaily decorated trees are appearing here and there throughout the subdivision, reminding us all that ^Christmas is just around the corner. These early examples of beautifully decorated homes sl^ould be an incentive for more of us to follow suit. Winter Fun Tou would almost* think it was summer in Lakeland Park judging from the many people who have been seen at the beach. The crowd has been gathering to enjoy the winter sports. While the cMldren were skating on the smooth ice, many of the fathers were taking advantage of the good fishing. It is reported that Ffenk Sweeney and son caught twenty-two fish in one hour. Is this fish story right, prank? ing pictures that were taken of the seining of the lake, which was done earlier this fall. Several other interesting sport movies were shown. The club received their charter from the national organization of the Sportsman club recently. This coming Saturday night, Dec. 17, the club is sponsoring their turkey party at Whitey's tavern in McCullom Lake. Refreshments, music and games will provide a good time for all. Coming and Going On Thursday, Dec. 8, Mr. and Mrs. William Krater and children attended a family gathering in the home of Mrs. Krater's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Walker, of Chicago, who were celebrating their forty-seventh wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rose of Elmwood Park and the junior Larry Strandquists from Wheaton spent Sunday with the Larry Strandquists. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rossini of Chicago and Jitrs. Olga Capocci and daughters were guests at the Frank Parisi home on Sunday, Dec. 11. Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Czajkowski were their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Dentro, and four children from Chicago, and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Leone. The Leones plan to be Lakeland Park residents in the coming year. The Fred' Murrays have sold their home on Meadow Lane and have moved back to Chicago. The Aches and Pains Club Charles Kluk fell while moving Mpne furniture in his home and injured his back. He's feeling better now but no heavy lifting for awhile. Maurice Fitzgerald is a patient in Mercy hospital, Chicago. A card or note probably would help cheer him. Craig Leigh gave his parents some anxious moments last weeK when he became quite ill and had to be taken to Memorial hospital.
