The Valentine dance given by the fire department will be held this Saturday, Feb. 11, at the firehouse. Get your dancing shoes on and come on out and have fun. About fifteen firemen got together last Sunday and worked all day on the second floor of the firehouse and much was accomplished. The fire department is^J^ateful to them for their help. IStere is much more work to be done to complete the second floor and they will appreciate all the help they can get. Please continue saving your newspapers and Ynagazines. There will be a pickup soon. Heart Fund Volunteers are needed to work 0£fc the Heart Fund drive. The drive is on for a short time only, and will require quite a few Workers. Please get in touch with Claude McDermott at 742. Auxiliary The ladies auxiliary will hold a card ' and bunco party on Saturday, Feb. 25, at the fire department community house. Mrs. Bijghwalter is in charge of the b<n«s and tickets can be obtained from Jean Booster. P.T.A. On Saturday, many parents and their children enjoyed the Founders' Day program. The program began with the Girl Scouts presenting the colors, followed by the pledge to the flag, singing of the national anthem and the Girl Sqput pledge. The children of the first grade put on a very humorous skit about the "Billy Goats Three," and the children of the second grade sang a few songs and danced two numbers. Later a delicious light luncheon was served. The Founders' Day was sponsored by the Lily Lake P.T.A. 'Rid: Girl Scouts y Vacondio entertained on her accordion in the Founders' Cay program. Also in the program were the following girls: Lt. Janyce Bonder; flag bearers, Mary Ann Sossong and Nancy Chadwick; color guards, Dorothy Pope, Betty Shaw, Lynn Dvorak and Rosanne Brzezinski. On Feb. 14,' Sharon O'Leary will fly up from the Brownies a^p. be welcomed into the Girl Scouts on Feb. 16. Virginia Bennett is to be invested into the Girl Scouts on Feb. 16. Teens Dance A* wonderful time was had by the young people at a dance on Sunday, Jan. 29, held at the fire department community house. Enjoying themselves at the dance also were the chaperones, Mr. and Mrs. Frank O'Leary. The 'teen-agers put up the decorations and balloons with prizes in them. Donations of cakes, cookies, cokes and balloons were given by some of the businessmen and residents. The next dance will be held on Sunday, Feb. 19, from 7 to It) p.m. Everyone 13 years and older is welcome. Donations of refreshments will be appreciated. Thursday Socials The Thursday night sodials are being held at Wally's Oasis every Thursday at 8:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. Ricky Foss spent Saturday in Chicago at a birthday party given by his cousin, Linda Bluett. Another thing he enjoyed very much was coming home by train, as this was his first train trip. Lil Gibson, spent Saturday with her daughter, Mrs. Michael Tosto, and family in their new home in the northwest part of Chicago. Frank Harder did his own cooking for about five days last week. Mrs. Harder was spending her time with her daughter, Mrs. Walter Tetrow, and family in Lombard. It's a shame when you have to be afraid to TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT Gov. William G. Str&tton has called for combined state and local traffic law enforcement to curb highway accidents. Addressing a meeting of state traffic safety officials in Springfield last week, the governor outlined his stand on state enforcement by pointing out that the state police have orders to make traffic arrests wherever and whenever violations fire encountered. All sheriffs, local police and court officials in Illinois have been asked to support a plan of uniform traffic law enforcement. This plan carries the endorsement of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police and the Illinois Sheriffs association. f STATE POSITIONS The Illinois Merit System coun cil will hold an open competitive examination for positions of public aid superintendent I and ri on Saturday, March 3, at places to be announced later.
