The rocks and other big underwater obstructions under the two bridges will be sunk down when the dredging 1s~done. We saw quite a number of boats get "hung up" under the bridge near the city hall last summer. A couple of shear-pins can be vouched for by personal experience. We picked up some new nylon rope for our boat the Other day. It is supposed to be extremely rot-resistant and does not have to be replaced often. Bass fishing should start,, soon The weather has been a little too cool for fishing but by the end of the month the crappies and bass should start hitting. Irene Adams sent us a note the other day. She says the Northern Illini Bowmen plan on carp shooting this month. An award will be given for the biggest one. Six trucks and thirty boys worked from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. to gather a total of approximately 10 tons of paper. If anyone was missed in this drive we are sorry but we did the best we could to contact all donors. We of Troop 164 are thankful to the people for their cooperation in this drive. The lads travelled to Barrington and lost 10-0. As a five man team they were 12 strokes down at the end of the match and if our memory is correct it was really cold. Art Beck had 46, his opponent 43, Bob Cable 46, opponent 45, Jim Justen 48, opponent 46, Larry Corey 50; • bpponent 45, Matt Eichinger 51 and his opponent 50. These scores are for nine holes. On Thursday the boys journeyed, to Lake Forest high and, with the weatherman cooperating, the squad tied the highly rlspected and talented youths from Lake Forest 5-5. Larry Corey won his match 44 to 46 as did 'Bob Cable 45 to 49. Matt Eichinger did very well by breaking even with his match 41 to 41, but Jim Justen and Art Beck lost their matches 48 to 44 and 44 to 36. With the weather showing signs of a warm trend and a few matches played at home, the team should finish high in the standing upon completion of the schedule. With all local golf tourses bemoaning the heavy and steady downpour of rain over the weekend, there is no news to report. But, I did witness a foursome going down the first fairway at McHenry C.C. Sunday morning in the cold rain. Won't mention any names. I bet they know how fish live in water after that five hole jaunt. x Tuesday, the Ladies' Golf association of McHenry C.C. had their first golf day of the new season and had 28 ladies present. The event of the day\was blind bogey. The winners in Class "A" were Joan Buss and Bev Rourke. Class "B" first prize -went to Lill Stilling and second prize to Carmen Antonson.
