Mrs. Warren Tallman, president of the League of Women Voters in Fort Worth, Texas, was the other former resident to attend the convention and visit at the Lake. She and her husband were house guosts of Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Redman of Deep Spring Woods. Saturday evening, May 5, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Setzter entertained the Tallmans and Redmans at dinner and other friends spent the. evening visiting with them. Sunday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Redman had as guests for a buffet supper, with Mr. and Mrs. Tallman as guests of honor, Mrs. L. Belshaw and son. Mr. and Mrs. H. Setzler, Mr. and Mrs. Mort Woodward, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Sinclair and Mrs. Jane Ducey. On Monday, Mrs. Phinney, executive secretary of the Red Cross, entertained Mrs. Redman, Mrs. Tallman and Mrs. Breytspraak at luncheon 'at the McHenry Country club. Home on Leave Robert Kolar is home on a ten-day leave from the Navy. He recently graduated with top honors from the hospital corps in Bainbridge, Md. He will return to a hospital in Bethesde, Md., and will go on with his schooling. Page Fifteen Mrs./Catherine Taylor of Indian Ridge celebrated a birthday May 15. Happy birthday, Cathy. Barbara Fiala's birthday was May 14. Fractures Arm Jimmy LaGreca was giving his son a ride on a bicycle last Thursday, fell and fractured his ami. The little boy was not injured. Friday. Art LaGreca received a third degree burn on his arm from scalding water. Everything happens at once! Flight Officer Will Be Grounded Richard Bland, flight officer for American Air Lines in Chicago, was badly injured in an automobile accident which occurred at Christy's corner on the McCullom Lake blacktop road Saturday night. The car apparently went off the road and put of control and hit a pole. Richard received fractures of both forearms,^Bob Meyers, his brother-in-law, 'Stfho was a passenger, received, cuts and bruises and^ Mr. Meyers, father-in-law, also riding in the car. suffered a 'dislocated hip and possible internal injuries. Rummage Sale The Queen's Ladies of Christ the King church will hold a rummage sale May 19 and 20 in the garage next to Viola's Shop. The girls will be there from 9 to 5 on Saturday and from y to 12 on Sunday. < Brotherhood Meeting | Fishing will be the topic for the evening at the Brotherhood meeting Monday, May 21. The regular business meeting will be i i f f l d a t 8 a n d t h e n t w o f i l m s o n j fishing will be shown. " j All men are welcome to attend. , At this meeting, plans will be made for the annual church picnic to be held in August, which is sponsored by the Brotherhood. ' Back to School Mrs. Harriet Johnston, a nurse at the McHenry Medical Group, is spending this week in the American hospital in Chicago taking a course in operating room surgery. Registration for Church School ^Registration for Christ the King church school will be Sunday, May 20, after the 8, 9, 10 and 11 a.m. masses. The church school will be held this year in Mathews hall, June 11 through 22, beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 11a.m. Staff Training Meeting The second training session of the vacation church school staff mil be held Wednesday, May 23, 7:30. All staff members and helpers are asked to be at this important meeting. The vacation church school will begin on June 11 and extend through June 22. All children from the ages of 3 to 12 are welcome to attend. Former Residents Visit Two women who were former residents of Wonder Lake were legates to the national convention or the League of Women Voters held in Chicago a week ago. Mrs. Mary Kay Carmen, a former resident of Deep Spring Woods, is president of the League in New Brunswick, N.J. She was an over-night guest of Mrs. Pat Wrede, who had the following guests that evening to visit with Mary Kay: Velma Sjcclair, Van Sells, Alice Noren, Simone Fuller, Jane Ducy and Happy Birthday Two girls in Wooded Shores had birthdays May 15. Patricia Grabovy was 10 and Barbara Whitfield was 9. Patricia had a group of school friends for a party Thursday, May 10, and Barbara had a group of friends May 14 to help celebrate birthdays. On the fifteenth, the Brownie troop in Wooded Shores had cake and ice cream at Patricia's home. 'Liquor Commission Tells License Receipts At the time of the deadline May 1, supervisors on the McHenry county liquor commission had received a total of $66,500 lor licenses for the ensuing year. The sum of $500 is required for a tavern liquor license, the same for package liquor store and also for clubs. There is a double "O" license paid by those desiring to keep open Sunday mornings. The additional license for those under this regulation is $200. Last year, when the rule was put into effect by the board, about one-half of the operators applied. LEGAL ZONING HEARINGS SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY. MAY 22 Two- zoning hearings will be held in the city hall of McHenry on Tuesday, May 22. at 3 p.m. At this time, the petitioner, Joseph M.
