FORESTER COURT OBSERVES 60TH ANNIVERSARY (Continued from Page 1) Since the late 'forties, the court has listed as one of its latest programs the sponsorship of the annual C.O.F. state basketball tournament, as well as its own bowling tourney which attracts about 150 members each year. The 240 local juvenile members and 520 adults make up the second largest court in Illinois. In 1947 McHenry joined Northern Illinois Associated Courts, including as well as the court of McHenry, those of Johnsburg, Elgin, Grayslake, Buffalo Grove and Waukegan. THIRTY-FIVE ARE RECEIVED INTO CHURCH FELLOWSHIP Last Sunday on Pentecost, May 20, nineteen confirmees and sixteen members of a youth membership class were received into the fellowship of the Community Methodist church. Members of the confiifnation class spent many weeks^in study, fuli filling assignments and making field trips. Last Saturday, a large group visited some, of the institutions of the church -t- Lake Bluff Children's home, Garrett seminary. First Methodist church of Evanston, Chapel in the Sky and Halsted Street Institutional church. Upon reception, confirmees were the recipients of the new revised standard version of the Bible. NEW SEVEN-MAN BOARD ELECTED FOR CIVIC ARTS A new board Of seven directors over leadership of the Civic Arts association when a detailed set of by-laws was adopted last Thursday night at a meeting of the general assembly. The directors will consist of four officers elected for terms of one1 or two years by the general assembly j of the group, and the heads of I the three separate departments of Civic Arts, who are to be elected annually by their own members. Civic Arts' first, board consists of President Bob Denhart, vicepresident Betty Babcock, Secretary Fran Kuhn, Treasurer Don Thelen, Drama Chairman Chuck Paetow, Art 'Chairman Fran Bollenson and Music Chairman Vern Hajeck. The new group, which has .sponsored two theatre productions to date, will continue to sponsor events to encourage participation and attendance from all over McHenry county. The last of the week, McHenry firemen extinguished a conflagration at "Lilymoor and on Monday, members from the Johnsburg station put out a fire in Chapel Hill subdivision. Guy U.S. Savings Bonds FROST DAMAGE Damage to Illinois fruit from recent late spring frosts was extremely variable, according to latest reports by the state and federal departments of agriculture. The first and second crops of strawberries were hard hit in some localities. Fruit south of Jackson county was not badly hurt. In general, the Illinois apple and peach crops are still expected to be from fair to good. Cool weather has slowed growth of winter wheat, but some fields are beginning to head in southern Illinois, and stands and color generally are satisfactory. EDITORS' DAY „ Editors' Day at the 1956 Illinois State Fair will be observed Monday, Aug. 13. The ten-day exposition is _to open Friday, Aug. 10. Gov. William G. Stratton, in making ttoe announcement regarding Editors' Day, said no decision has been reached as yet on naming special events for Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 15 and 16, at the fair. Because the national presidential nominating conventions of the two major parties are scheduled close to fair time, no special political days are being planned for this season's big exposition.
