All proceeds of the beach party will be used for the completion of the second floor of the fire department ,;community house. . Ladies Auxiliary At the last meeting, the auxiliary welcomed two new members, Mrs. Elizabeth Winters and Barbara Williams. The auxiliary is busy with plans and preparaitais for the August 5 meeting, wnen they will welcome the Lake county auxiliaries. They will have a bazaar table with attractive items for sale and entertainment and a light supper will be served. \ An election of officers of the Lake county auxiliaries will be held at that meeting. The number of room coolers installed by residential, commercial and other customers of the Commonwealth Edison-Public ' service system during 1955 alone approximated 57,000, to bring the total in service to 165,000. The increase for the year was 53 per cent. Annual increases during the last five years have ranged" up-' ward of 30 per cent and the number of room coolers at the end of 1955 was five and a half times the 30,000 estimated to be in service in 1950. The records cover the 11,000-square-mile area in northern Illinois, including Chicago, served by Commonwealth Edison and Public Service company. Mrs. Alice Wade is enjoying a ten-day vacation now. Funeral services were held at Cary, with burial in St. Patrick's cemetery, McHenry. Homer Wattles, who resides with his son, F. H. Wattles, celebrated his eighty-fifth birthday July 5. C. W. Gibbs, agent for the Waite tractor, and James Costello, demonstrator of Elgin, were conspicuous in the parade at Woodstock July 4. Castor Adams, a pioneer Johnsburg resident, died at his home list Thursday after a brief illness. In an automobile contest, sponsored -by the Grayslake Times, Miss Celia Geary of Wauconda, sister of Mrs. H. J. Schaffer of this city, was the lucky winner of a Reo touring car. Sunday. July 16, will be Bending Day at the baseball park, honoring Louis Bending, who has probably done as much for baseball in McHenry as any other player who wore a local uniform. Elvera Pitzen of Pistakee Bay won the pony and cart in a contest which came to a close at the J. J. Vycital store July 3. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO From iMue of July 2, 1931 McHenry has been suffering from a heat wave the past week, with all records broken for the month of June. With the temperature registering at 100 degrees and over, many deaths and accidents have Been reported throughout the country the past week. Dr. Emil Windmueller, former well known physician of Woodstock, died at his home in Sacramento. Calif., last Monday. Burial took place there Saturday. ^ Miss Gladys Van Natta, a former McHenry resident, was united in marriage to William Kirchoff in Franklin Park on June 20. Misses Genevieve Knox, Lillian and Nellie Doherty and Lillian Kortendick are taking a six weeks' course of study at Loyola university, Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sutton entertained at a family dinner at J heir summer home at Emerald Park Sunday honoring Ifer. father, &N. J. Justen, on- his seventy-fifth birthday. Richard Breen of Chicago, father of Mrs. Ben Wegener of this city, died Monday. Survivors are his widow and ten children. WEATHER OUTLOOK Illinois weather during the first half of July is expected to be hotter than usual, with rainfall about normal, according to the state and federal departments'of agriculture.
