We might toss a buck away for a less worthy cause. .'We heard all about those no-hit games pitched by Terry Britz for St. Mary's * High School team at -Woodstock. But, one knows that high school baseball is not too much of' a hitters' game in these parts and the games are 7-inning affairs. Then, we would say "A no-hitter is something in any league." So -- we wondered how Terry would do in county league competition. We found out last Sunday. He pitched a beauty against the Shamrocks and looks like a fellow with a future. ;We hope Terry will take good care of that arm as he gains exp6rienc£ H? has plenty of speed to mix in with that curve. In fact, some of the hitters could tell when the fast ball was coming, but could do nothing with it Seems to us that too many pitchers get themselves in trouble with that waste pitch when they get ahead of the batter. It seems to be automatic. Give us the fellow who will get that pitch in there part of the time -- with something on it, of course. Every now and then we hear screams from the major leagues about signal stealing. Seems to us that any dub can see some catchers tipping off inside or outside pitches. Oh, if those batters had mirrors! ^ It must have been the holiday jipirit that made us accept a good Jgigar from "Muggs". We have fteen refusing for some time. Thought we might .soften him up 0n the rumor that he is opening a ranch on the East Side this month to continue serving those sodas known as "Banker's Special". These areas will have picnic areas, parking, boat landing and sanitary facilities. The Chain O' Lakes areas are located on the east side of the Fox river immediately south of Route 173; on the. Chain O' Lakes State Park and public hunting area, west of Grass Lake with access into Fox river and the lake; and on Department property between Dunn's Lake and*-Nippersink Lake just east of the Lake Geneva highway or Coun'try Club road north out of Fox Lake. Director Glen D. Palmer says the need for these areas has been recognized and the Department of Conservation is trying to get several more. Fishing near and in these areas is good. All three will be able to be reached by boat or car. f Leonard Johnson's 9-year-old son caught a 4 lb. northern in Boone Creek last week on an old silver spoon with pork rind. The boy also landed the fish without a net. That is a pretty good feat for a 9-year-old with a pike that big.
