Joe Frett was in to talk a little baseball and tell us that the Johnsburg Tigers have entered the state tournament at Elgin. The Tiger team will play Utica next Thursday, July 19th at 6:30 p.m. Games will be played in Wing Park. Another point to remember is that Joe and his players have tickets to soil. If you buy from the team, they will share in the proceeds. It will help pay the entry fee and usual expenses. So-- if you are going to attend the tournament, buy your tickets locally. in this one. Although losing 5 to 1 to an older, more experienced team, the local boys put up a great battle. . McHenry led 1-0 at the end of four innings due to a long triple by Tom Roti scoring Jack Schaefer. Gene Freund pitched hitless ball for four innings but tired in the fifth and sixth. ,-Ray Bujak came on in relief in the sixth with the bases loaded" and no outs and was within one pitch of getting out of the inning when Smith lined a two-run single to left. Hinsdale, the Dupage county champion, went on to win the district by eliminating the winner of the Kane and Will county champions.
