All the v-»Jes were closed because of the "Wrific rain and wind. Although our spirits were dampened Sunday evening, Friday, Saturday and earlier Sunday proved most successful. A. very large crowd of people were most contended, with the culinary arts of the parish women, as usual. 7~ So once again we say goodbye to carnivals for our town next year. Jamboree Maybe our carnivals are finished for this year, but Sunnyside Roach is holding a jamboret> next Saturday, Aug. 18. A bulfct lunch, besides other attractions await all those who attend. All ladies interested in bowling on Thursday evenings this season are asked to attend this meeting. burg rescue squad was called upon ^to lend assistance three times in just a matter of hours. Their first call was to the Bay area, where an elderly gentleman fell from his boat info the water. Although someone rescued him from the water, the squad took him to McHenry to the doctor"*,' < "fice. Their second call was to the Dr. J. C. Newall home, where Mrs. Newall required their assistance. She was transferred from her home to Memorial hospital by ambulance. We sincerely hope Mrs. Newall is on the up-grade to health by the time this is printed. The squad was called shortly after* that to the river, where someone had slipped on the pier and received a gash in their head. The members administered first aid. As long as we are' speaking of the rescue squad, tickets for their annual dance coming up in November are still available. The tickets can be purchased from any of the members or business places. This is our small way of showing the boys how we all appreciate the big job they are doing. Be sure to buy several in the very near future. Birthday Surprise Harold May was pleasantly surprised recently with a birthday celebration in his honor held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Hiller, Harold was 12 on Aug. 8. Present for the evening were Mr. and Mrs. William May and Richard, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Delin and family and the Norbert Hiller family. Happy Birthday to Mrs. Catherine Freund, who celebrated her birthday on Aug. 12.
