Convalescing At Home Mrs. Edna Thorp came home from Memorial hospital, Woodstock, on Monday. She was hospitalized Aug. 8 for a general check-up and treatment. According to her son, Elmer, Edna is much improved and happy to be back in familiar surroundings. Death Claims Long ' Time Resident William H. Schlitt, Sr., a -property owner for the last nineteen years died Wednesday, Aug. 15- He would have celebrated his®Tfty-fifth birthday, Sept. 28. Mr. Schlitt had been the victim of an incurable illness, for more than two years. The Schlitts | had resided in the community J for sixteen years, until they returned to Chicago three years ago. Anne had Dream That Never Materialized Marius Petersen, age 73, was claimed • by death before he could retire to his little home on Fountain Lane. Mr. Petersen, a janitor for many years, had one dream in life- to own his own home in which to spend his declining ye$s. After suffering a few heart attacks, he was warned by his doctor, to retire and take it easy. He planned to do just that--the first of September. He and his wife, Elizabeth, enjoyed a quiet day Sunday, Aug. 12, which was their forty-seventli wedding anniversary. He had been feeling fine that weekend. Mr. Petersen was stricken by a cerebral hemorrhage Sunday evtTiin^, went into a coma and passed away Tuesday "-fftorniljg without regaining consciousness. The Petersens purchased their home last fall and had made many improvements since they planned to live their permanently. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Mayda Shingley, McCullom Lake, Mrs. Anna Brjr*, and two sons, Harry and Cafi, of Chicago. Our deepest sympathy to these two families who are bereaved. Grand Opening Lottie and Gene Piotrowski are making big plans for their grand opening, which will be held Labor Day weekend. They have ordered several new pieces of equipment which will be installed this week. Several gifts will be given away, plus many other surprises. v Wanderer Returns Ray Osterby returned home from an overseas jaunt to Norway recently. He left by . plane for New York, where he transferred to an overseas airline. Last stop on the North American continent was at Newfoundland, where they took on fuel and provisions 'cause that ocean is wide and deep with no comforting islands along the way. The p'ane landed at Sola airport in Norway. Ray made the rounds of the large cities, which included Oslo and Stavanger, visiting, friends and relatives that he had not seen for thirty-* five years. A fabulous thrifl for Ray was viewing the midnight sun in Trondheim. Nature provided a special panorama by displaying a mother-of-pearl sky which the nattves claim has only been seen a few jtimes in the - last two hundred years. 0 Ray toured the entire country, taking in the spectacular scenes of mountains, fjords and modernistic cities. His farewell to his mother and sister was understandably sad, but he has hopes of seeing them again in a few years. It was an excitihg experience for Ray but we know how happy his ever lovin' wife* Elsie, was to see him again.
