Doing Well Our thanks to the Johnsburg rescue squad, who very ably assisted one of our neighbors last week. , Mr. Ambrose was taken ill quite suddenly and needed immediate attention before going to the McHenry hospital for treat- j merit. We are happy to report | that Mp. Ambrose is home now and restling well. Another neighbor, Mrs. Reekie, has just returned from a hospital in Berwyn after a major operation and is also doing very well. Christmas Parties Our Christmas parties 'are well underway with their plans and it sounds as if a lot of fun will be had by all. We have the different age groups going at different times on Saturday, .Dec. 22. The adults will nave their party on Dec. 21 and like the children, will have Santa there to greet them. A bulletin will be passed out during that week, giving you all the details on the parties. Banquet Our deputy sheriffs, Mr. Novak and Mr. Peloquin, . attended a sheriffs' banquet last week in Richmond and will give a full report at our December meeting. One of the sheriffs will j^lso attend the next scout meeting and give the boys a short on -the < proper handling of fire arms and explain the hunting rules, in the community. der the supervision of Mrs. Schlick, heid their second meeting and had their election of ofmittee had another meeting and has a very good plan to propose to the residents. Donations Donations of all sorts have been turning up at the barn or are ready to bp brought to the barn ,such as, another piano, juke box, pirig Dong table, chairs, tables, stoves, plumbing equipment, lumber ,etc. Now we are starting a drive for kitchen equipment. Dishes, pots and pans, glasses, bowls, etc. Any* thing will be appreciated. Bids We have some bids and will accept in regard to heating the barn, insulation and electrical work. If you are interested in helping us, please call Ray Novotny at 340-M-l. p Scout News The boy scouts are at it again. The senior branch, sea scouts, are ready to go. Uniforms, manuals, ropes, flags and even a fully equipped coast guard whale boat have been donated to them. Nice going fellows. The girl scouts are also very busy at work. They had a meeting last week and wit'n everyone pitching 4a, they have completed almost ail of their Christmas tree ornaments. Keep up the good work, girls. Ice Fishing Just a reminder that there si ould be no ice fishing within 300 yards of our benches. If the ice is not in good -condition, we will not be ible to dump sand on it and we need the sand to keep our beaches in good shape for swimming. New Store We are all waiting anxiously for the opening of our new store on the public highway, across from Dan Johnsoh. We would like to wish Mrs. Lewis a lot of success in her new establishment. Meeting*^ During the last couple of weeks, there have been meetings of the glee club, teen age club and the garbage disposal committee; The glee club, under the leadership of Mrs. Schlick and Mrs. Sp^nkuch, have been practicing and are in hopes of going Don't Forget To decorate your houses so that you may enter our contest, with a twenty-five dollar savings bond to be given as first prize. Officer^ and Projects The Girl Scout and Brownie meetings are being held at Mrs. Johnson's home until our community hall is properly heated, and then they will switch back there. They have a very nice attendance for both groups, but would like to welcome anyone that is interested in joining them. The Brownies elected Cheri Janquart to be their secretary for the month of November and the intermediates elected Janet Peloquin. Sick List We were very sorry to hear of Myrtle Haas' serious illness, but on the other hand, we are very happy to report that she is at home and recuperating nicely. % :***! 1 ' f W •'••X.-f m l'"- --* "Holidays At Home" Planned By Air Force The Air Force will take the roll of Santa Claus to thousands of parents and young men and women who enlist during December. In a -new "Holidays at Home',' program, the Air Force will give any person enlisting from Dec. 18 through Dec. 31 a delay in route so that the enlistee will not have to leave home until the first week in January. However, the Air Force pointed out that it some enlistees do not desire a delay enroute they will be accepted anytime during this period. WOMEN OF THE MOOSE Time is growing short. We are asking all members to be generous with aprons, pot hoiders, home-made candies and caKes and "white elephants" for our Christmas bazaar. Ethyl Wolf, chairman, gave us a preview of some of the items to be sold. All those who come to the Legion hall on Dec. 7 and 8 will find some lovely gifts and moneysaving items tor their Christmas lists. So come one, come all to the Legion hall.
