Village Meeting The village meeting will held on Thursday, Dec. 13, 8:30 p.m. Ladles League Mrs. Irene Leon returned to «e meeting on the fifth of Dember after spending^ several weeks in the hospital and recuperating. The members of the league were overjoyed at her return. Welcome back, Irene. TTie Corbett twins, Jessie and Olive, celebrated their birth date " at the meeting. Saturday, Dec. 8, the league held their annual Christmas dinner at the Vogue with husbands %id friends invited. The oarty Chen went on to the fire houso, where they enjoyed an evening of cards and bunco. Cake and coffee were served to climax a wonderful time. The next meeting of the Ladies League will take place at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19. Brownies The Christmas corsages are Tftill on sale by the Brownies and only cost thirty-five cents. The children worked very hard on these corsages. Won't you buy one? The Brownies are now working on a Christmas gift for mother. Intermediate Oirl Scouts We opened the meeting with the flag ceremony, roll call and fpllection of dues. We worked n knot tying. Sharon O'Leary and Betty Becker passed their sports and games badges. Betty Becker, Sharon O'Leary and Nancy Godina passed the international friendship badge. Nancy Godina passed her health and safety badge. Sharon O'Leary passed the music and dancing badge. Patricia Morrison and Carol Booster completed all the'r Second class requirements. We welcomed Susan Atkins as a new member. Patricia Morrison was hostess and served cookies. Scribe, Nancy Godina. Mrs. Buchwalter reports that the P.T.A. is planning their Christmas party for sometime ' in McHenry on January 17. r the last week in December, e P.T.A. council will meet hosing Your 4 $ i ^ Mrs. Fantus, thfc P.T.A. treasurer, has been hospitalized and has been greatly missed. The association will begin forming a Founder's day committee in the near future. Socials A social evening is held "every Thursday at Wally's Oasis. Everyone is welcome to attend. Ting-a-ling: I seem to hear wedding bells and they're ringing in the near future for Pat Maher and Richard Fuhler. Now!! Birthdays Little Miss Susan Steadman celebrated her birth date with a party on Dec. 2. She was 6 years old. Everyone enjoyed her party cake, ice cream soda pop and goodies. Each child received a little gift and Susan was the recipient of many lovely gifts. Guests were escorted to a cartoon movie in McHenry and a good time was had by all. Guests for the occasion were Pamela Kibbe, Terry and Mickey Morrison, Albert Hirsch, Duane Brossman, Christine Hose, and Susan Ehrhardt. Ben Di Cicco, Sr., celebrated his sixty-seventh birthday on Dec. 8 and we believe" he's more .years young than he is years old. There to celebrate with him were the Manson family of Lake Zurich, the family of Ben Di Cicco, Jr., Peter Di Cicco family and Ifalsetti family of McHenry. Many happy returns, Ben. Patricia Morrison celebrated her tenth birthday on Saturday, Dec. 8 with a family party. Pat was the recipient of many gifts and was especially pleased with her cake which was decorated witfy ten thin dimes--one for each year of life. Honored guests at -the affair were Mrs. Helen Koch and daughter, Florence, of Chicago. * J Dec. 3 was the date that Mrs. Gillis begrudgingly added that nasty old candle to her cake. Congratulations. Sick List Howard Williams entered Hines hospital for observation last week Wednesday. A 1,500-acre tent city is being prepared at historic Valley Forge in Pennsylvania. It will nave its own water supply, .electricity, telephone service, post offices, and other services for the largest gather^ig of boys in the Western Hemisphere. Jamboree campers, all of them at least twelve years old, holding Second Class rank or higher, will share daily camp chores, cook their own meals, take part in displays, campfires, demonstrations, intercamp visits, and excursions to historic shrines in and near Philadelphia. Daniel Vacondio entered 1115- nois Masonic hospital in Chicago for surgery three weeks ago. He's been dismissed now and all repeats say he's feeling much better now. Harold Harder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hafder, has been admitted to the Illinois Research hospital of Chicago. He's suffering from pneumonia. Get weL soon, Harold. Thomas Turskey of Elgin, father of Mrs. Edward J. Jinks, has been hospitalized for observation at Sherman hospital in Elgin. Mr. Turskey just recovered from a mild heart attack and Had just returned to- work when he" was stricken. • •' Mrs. Fantus has jtist returned from McHenry hospital. Her friends are all so glad that she's coming along so well. I hear that Mr. and Mrs. Gillis have had a streak of illness too Mr. Gillis, fell down a few weeks ago, but he's doing real fine now. And Mrs. Gillis, I hope you're feeling better too. Mrs. Buchwalter is really on the mend these days after her recent stroke. She went outside for the first time on Friday and on Saturday she was able to attend Mass. Mrs. Brzezinski, Casey's mother, is back on the critical list at St. Mary of Nazareth hospital in Chicago with a heart condition. Red-Faced Two weeKs ago it was reported that Mr. and Mrs. Peterson are the parents of Marge Levand. This is incorrect. Mr. and Mrs. Peterson are the parents of Art Levand. But Oh So New! Mrs. Sarley tells me they have started work on their new house this week. They expect to have their foundation completed by February 1 if the weather permits. Mr. Sarely, who is quite the handy man is going to finish the inside the house himself so that they' can have everything the way they want it. This reporter is sure of a sneak preview when it's finished. Mrs. Anderson loves company and would love to meet more of her neighbors. A Prize Cliff Chambers and Harry Milbourn both of Wauconda, heing guests of E J.. Jinks, went icefishing on the lake a week ago Sunday. After fishing through the ice for awhile, they actually saw a stranger pull in a 7-pound Northern Pike measuring near thirty-two inches. Boy!! Tuesday, Dec. 4, Julia Kraus played hostess to a group of thirty women, at which time a variety demonstration was held. Refreshments were served. The home of E. J. Jinks buzzed last Sunday when they entertained Mrs. Jinks' brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Turskey, of West Dundee. Miss Florence O'Rourke spent two days in Chicago last week at her sister's home. Mr. and Mrs. Claude McDermott were guests of the firemen of the McHenry Fire Protection district at the Legion home on Dec. 9. Ted Beahler, Lorrie Beahler, Buddy Pope and Diane Cartan attended the Inland Lakes Youth Fellowship church at Round Lake on Dec. 8 and had a wonderful time doing vocals.
