Prizes in cards went to Mrs. Math Nimsgern, Mrs. Britz, Mrs. George Huff, Mrs. Harry Myers and Mrs. William Engels. A lovely lunch was served after cards. The firemen held their regular meeting at the fire house on Monday night. Following the meeting, there were cards and refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Miller, ilies, the Harold Staneks of Elkhorn and the Alvin Benoys of McHenry and her father, A. W. Smith for Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. John Smith and son of Riverdale. spent Christmas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Andreas. Mr: and Mrs. Walter Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Moon Olson and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Freund enjoyed an evening at cards at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Miller on Saturday night. Mrs. Charles Freund and Mrs. John McGovern attended a dinner meeting of the McHenry county postmasters at McHenry Country club on Tuesday night of last week. A delicious chicken dinner was served. In keeping with the season, Christmas carols were sung and there was a gift exchange. Frank Tinney, Jr., who is in the Navy and stationed at Great Lakes, spent the weekend at his home here. Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to Marie Fitzpatrick on the loss of her father, Tom Fitzpatrick, who passed away at his home on Wednesday. Funeral services were held at St. Peter's church on Saturday morning. Members of her club had' a Christmas party at the home of Mrs. Arthur Kattner, with Mrs. Eldred Johnson as hostess, on Monday night. A delicious turkey dinner with all tne trimmings was served. There was a gift exchange and everyone received a gift from their secret pal. Prizes were awarded to Mrs. Regina Schaefer, Mrs. Tom Lewis, Mrs. Norbert Klaus and Mrs. Ray May. The club will meet next at the home of Mrs. George May in January. All the little folks, and even some of the grown-ups, were all excited on Sunday afternooh as Santa Claus came to town. AD the kiddies had the opportunity to sit on , his lap and tell him just what they wanted' for Christmas. Ice cream and candy was given away, too. The -Lotus Country Woman's club of Spring Grove met at the home of Mrs. Jacob Miller in Dec. 5, with fifteen members in attendance. Roll call was "A Favorite Painting and the Artist?'. Plans vfor the Christmas party were discussed and it was voted to send five dollars to the Elgin State hospital. Mrs. Alice VanEvery of Richmond gave a very interesting book "review of Dale Evan's book, "The Answer is God," written in cooperation with Elise Miller Davis. After the "Club Collect" was read delicious refreshments were served.
