THE McHENRY PUONDEALERf® ^ flheo^'l :; It's the .heel of a Christmas evening ancl, as we recover from a fine, Vbi^j turkey dinner and await supper, it dawns on uis that H deadline 'is creeping up fast. The Christmas spirit lingers as we listen to an arrangement of songs of the season. But, the big whirl is over. Anticipation at least equals realizations at Christmas time. We grow tired, but love every part of the season. So many nice cards with so many kind thoughts. So many cheery greetings as we meet people with nothing but good will toward fellowmen. People directing their steps toward the •• church of their choice, renewing their faith and forgetting the material side as they make sure that Christ remains forever in Christmas. Little children made happy with gifts and older people made happy in giving. Mothers and fathers expressing gladness that it is all over. That is Christmas. Now. we look forward to another year--and another Christmas, the greatest of all birthdays. Publicity release came in days late for last week's paper, but we gave you the schedule picked up from a window card about the town. ] The MeHenry County Tournament will be the next big event in high school basketball and we are among those who think the Warriors could go all the way this time. Again, a lot depends on how the ball bounces. The county* meet will be held in Harvad's beautiful new gym this year. Hebron's return to high standing should add interest. Richmond put a good team on the floor last year and may be a .surprise package in '57. The K. of C. Parish tournament starts next Sunday and will bring out a lot of local rivalry. With JfJcHenry and . Johnsburj*. teams entered, a crowd should be on hand to pull for their favorites. Tom Bolger, who is managing the tournament, finds more interest than ever in the grade school part of the parish event. Al.
