Help Needed! You have always been so generous whenever we have asked for your help in any endeavor,, that I am sure you will come through again with your usual cooperation. We are .glad to tell you that Gus Holmgren will be able to come home weekends from Illinois Research hospital in Chicago. He - ^j£$ been hospitalized for six months now and is looking forward to spending this time with his family., He will need transportation back to the hospital each Sunday in the late afternoon or early evening. He can fide in any ordinary car for he has been taught how to get in and out bf a car so there will be no special problems. The father of one of the Pteindealer carrier boys, Ed. wartzloff has kindly offered to bring Gus home each Friday night. If you can see your way clear to offering to take him back on Sunday, it will mean much to Gus and to his family. When he was home for three weeks at Christmas time, he progressed more rapidly in many ways than he did at the hospital. Those of you who were in service, remember the lift it gave you to look forward to coming home . Gus is in the hospital now for physical I therapy which strengthens his ! muscles. f Freddy at the drug store will !' keep a list of people who are available to drive Gus back to the hospital. Please call him at Richmond 2711. If enough people volunteer, there will be only one trip apiece involved. I know you well jnough to know that such will be the case. Gus has shown a kind of courage and faith that most? of us are seldom called on to show, and for this reason the doctors agree that his progress has been remarltble. L. Hindes of Genoa City and Mrs. Clem Tilton of Wilmot. Debbie will be a first grader in the fall. Mrs. Charles Schultz celebrated her birthday last week. She and her family, with Mrs. Ethel Bell, celebrated with birthday cake at Mr. and Mrs. D. Sheldon's home. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Buchert entertained Mr. and Mrs. Curly Stevens and Sport Buchert and sons at a birthday supper Sunday evening in honor of Harold Buchert's birthday on Monday of this week and Gertrude's birthday earlier in the month. A few more March birthdays-- Dick Buchert on March 11 and today is Judy Sebo's birthday. Hospitalized Mrs. Susan Brunswick, teacher at Keystone school, was hospitalized awhile back, but is home again. We hope she is feeling better by this time. Cub Scout Pack Meeting The Legion hall was the scene of the first Cub Scout pack meeting of the newly formed Richmond Cub pack. All the boys received their Bobcat pins at the Bake Sale _ The Richmond Evening unit of Home Bureau will hold a bpke sale on Saturday, March 23, this Saturday, at the Hastings Memorial hall at 11 ajn. All kinds of goodies will be on sale for you to purchase. When you do your Saturday shopping, come in and take a whiff of the interesting food and you won't be able to resist it, we are sure. County .President DuWayne Sheldon of our high school was elected to 'the presidency of the McHenry County Teachers' association at their meeting in Woodstock Friday, March 8. Congratulations for the honor you bring our fair village. meeting March 11.; There were sixty-five kids and parents in. attendance that night. The parents pinned the Bobcat pins on their sons, who were indeed proud. The pack is divided into dens which meet weekly with den mothers. The next meeting will be April 8. Hie fathers of Den 1 served refreshments, sandwiches and cocoa. •Hie boys displayed some of the Indian things they had made in their dens. Scout Cookie Sale The Girl Spout cookie sale will be conducted Wednesday, March 27, and Wednesday, April 3. A Brownie will Call On you to buy cookies. Now that a Girl Scout council has been formed in the area, we will have cookies to sell. We hope you will be kind to the Brownies and, if you can, buy a box of cookies too. Thank; you. Grade School Basketball In the tournament held last week at Crystal Lake, Richmond won the first game from Marengo 42-29; the second game Richmond lost to Crystal Lake 45-16; and the third game Richmond lost to Dundee 43-31. In the game with Dundee, the game was quite an exciting one and our team lost in the last few minutes of the game. Sympathy The sympathy of the community is extended to Mrs. Hage, first grade teacher in the Richmond grade school on the loss of her father-in-law last week. Mrs. Hage lives in Harvard. Our sympathy is likewise extended to Mrs. Horvath, fifth and sixth grade teacher, on the loss of her father. Mrs. Horvath lives in Williams Bay. Good Fellowship Group Ruby Wilson will be hostess to the good fellowship group in her home on Wednesday, March 27. Mrs. Victor Stanek will be cohostess. The group is doing some sewing and sewing supplies will come in handy. Church News Sunday evening the senior hf youth fellowship heard James Begg, pastor of the Twin Lakes Congregational church and a student at the Chicago Theological seminary. Charles Mader from Chicago was also a visitor. I The Richmond club has been invited to attend the eighth annual charter night of the Williams Bay club to be held March 23 at the Sterlingworth hotel, just north of Elkhorn. The annual district conference of Rotary will be held April 3 and 4 at Medinah . This week Monday , was Floyd Goehring's birthday. Callers Mr. and Mrs. Brevik of Chicago were callers on the H. Carlson family Sunday afternoon. Hospital Patient Mrs. Clayton Klemstein is again ft patient at Billings hospital in Chicago. She has been progressing rather well. Out Again Isn't, it good to see Otto Buchert, our chief of police, out driving that lovely squad car again? We are glad to know he is feeling better. * D.A.R. Award Elaine Munch received the D.A.R. award last week at a luncheon given at the Drake hotel in Chicago in honor of girls chosen for the award. Elaine was chosen for her dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. She is a senior at R.B.C.H.S. The above qualities are those considered necessary to a good citizen. Congratulations Elaine! April IS On this date there will again be an opportunity to vote on the question of raising the educational fund tax rate from 72 cent to 93 cents per $100 of assessed valuation. The proposition was defeated in November by a slim vote of 81 to 69. By June 30 of the current year, we will probably have a deficit of $15,000. If the proposition fails to pass again, either we will do with •fewer teachers, which means that your kids will have less attention and if they are already behind in their work, they will never catch up for a teacher with too many pupils cannot devote time to slow workers. Public meetings with speakers, and pictures and programs in spools and over radio and TV networks are among the planned activities of the period. Gov. William G. Stratton noted the observance by urging Illinois residents to keep up their efforts for better wildlife conservation.
