The property includes lots 1' through 8 inclusive,. and lots 19 and 20 of Quinn's Pleasant View subdivision. The second hearing will be held tip! Weidner, is asking for a variation of the McHenry county zoning ordinance, allowing him to add an addition to his housp which is now too close to the lot lines. Karen Schmelzer gave a short review of the proceedings of the safety committee meeting.. Neil Zimmerman talked on the electric school and Mark Zimmerman "'reported on the officers' training school. The Share-The-Fun and the demonstration contests were discussed. Hie, announcement that our club had the grand champion window display was made. Bob Harris was introduced as ia new member. Karen Schmelzer gave a talk op "Treatment For Burns and Sunburn"; Mark Zimmerman gave a stirring demonstration on "Tractor Safety" anS Judy Bohl gave a talk on her dairy project. Talks for the next meeting were appointed. The Party-A-Month committee is as follows: David Buck, Dorothy Curran, Mary Long, Ruth Zimmerman, Chuck Leahy and Bob Harris. Our next meeting will be held sometime in April. Mark Zimmerman led the club in recreation after the . meeting. Refreshments were served by Karen Schmelzer and Judy Bohl. Reporter, Kathryn Curran COMMUNITY GO-PHERS The-Community Go-Phers 4-H club met March 5 at the Richmond high school, with twentysix members and four guests present. The meeting was called to order by our president, Bruce Gardner. Under new business, we spoke of a safety chairman. The demonstration contest which will be held March 14 and 4-H camp was also discussed. Bruce Gardner gave a talk. We also picked a refreshment committee. JUNIOR CHAMPIONS "'I'V Mark Zimmerman, left, of McHenry was recently proclaimed county junior corn growing champion at a banquet held at DeKalb in honor of northern Illinois corn growing champs. His yield of 134.29 bushels per acre was the top yield in the county in 1956 contest. DIES • Walter Schimmel, 74, well known as operator of Snug Harbor on East River Road for many years, died at the Villa Rest home, Pistakee Bay, last Thursday, March 14. The blue-eyed daughter of a chemical operator receive*! the highest score in a written examination on homemaking knowledge and attitudes administered to^ 15,779 girls in 504 schools throughout Illinois. Miss Bagel,v who graduated from Flower Vocational in the winter term, will reeieve a $1,500 scholarship and becomes a candidate with forty-seven other state winners and the representative from the District of Columbia for th? title of All-American Homemaker of Tommorow. Daniel Prince Hurt In Auto Accident RICE APRICOT CREAM Daniel Prince 21,»of Cicero was taken to McHenry hospital with serious head injuries as the result of an auto accident early last Saturday on the Pistakee Bay road. According to authorities, it is believed the young man was a t tempting to make a right turn when he hit loose gravel and lost control of his car. The miles traveled by vehicles, during a recent year, in collecting and distributing blood by Red Cross are the equivalent of 136 trips around the world. WANT-AOS tcwe mus. 4" BACON 2 cups dried apricots 3 cups water 2 tablespoons unflavored gelatin .J cup cold water 1 cup whipping cream % cup sugar ^4 teaspoon almond flavoring % teaspoon vanilla flavoring 2 cups cold cooked rice l/3 cup slivered blanched almonds Combine apricots and water in saucepan and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer about 30 minutes, or until apricots are very tender. Pour apricots and excess apricot liquid into sieve and puree. Soften gelatin in cold water. Add to hot puree and stir until dissolved. Chill until partially set. Combine whipping cream, sugar, and flavorings; chill. Beat until stiff. Beat apricot puree until smooth. Fold in whipped cream, cold rice, and almonds. Pour into 1%-quart mold. Chill until firm. Unmold and garnish with additional apricots or almonds, if desired. Yields six servings. U You're Interested in an "Qf^USED Car -- Be Sure to See Your Ford Dealez OBITUARIES | Mary Agnes Wright Mrs. Mary Agnes Wright, 87, who resided near Burton's Bridge, lied at her home early Monday, March 18. She had lived on the present Wright farm for almost fifty years. Mrs. Wright was born Aug. 25, 1869, at LaFayette, Ind., and on June 23, 1897, was married to William Wright. They moved at that time to the Burton's Bridge area. Surviving are the widower; two sons, William of Huntley and Ed.< of DesPlaines; a daughter, Mrs Charles (Marie) Rossmah, at home; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. .Services will be held today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. from the Querhammer Funeral home in Crystal Lake, with interment in McHenry county Memorial Park. William Gets William A. Geis, 70, a former Chicago resident who bad lived eor the past ten years in Emerald Park, died early last Thursday. March 14, in McHenry hospital He was .a retired upholsterer. Surviving is the widow, Bernice; a brother and three sisters. Services were held Saturday in St. Mary's church, McHenry, followed by burial in St. Mary's cemetery at Evergreen Park. Bank Rating The March 1 issue of "the American Banker'" disclosed that the McHenry State bank, has advanced to a position among the 2,000 largest banks in the United States. There are approximately 15,000 banks in the country and the McHenry bank now ranks 1924th. A deposit increase of more than one and one half million dollart has enabled the local bank to move up 221 places in one year. The advancement 1s attribute^ in part to the new building and creased facilities which the bahfe opened in July of last year.
