James Buchwalter is making a house to house canvass at which time you will be asked to do so. After the canvass is complete the village will be cleared of all stray dogs. The refuse problem exists in some sections of the village. Parties who have no refuse recepticle are expected to have one. The disposal truck will empty no container heavier than thirty gallon. Remember, the cleanliness of your village is up to you. The stray animals feed off of what you throw away. To eliminate many problems, all that's needed is a little foresight. 1 April 16 is election day in bur village. Try to see that you vote. Like in all elections, this is not only your duty but your American privilege. Girl Scouts The Thursday troop of the Lakemoor girl scouts held their election of officers at the last meeting. The officers for the forthcoming term are: Mdry Smith, scribe; Roxanna Naughton, secretary; and Brigette Sack, treasurer. We- welcomed back into our troop, Shirley Gustafson. Several new members have arrived, among them we welcomed Cheryl Wolf. The registry of the new members is not yet complete and , the names of other members will follow in the next issue. This troop would like to extend their thanks to the Lakemoor Ladies League for offering to sponsor us, and we very graciously accept their kind offer. T . A . Mr. and Mrs. James Buchwalter and Mrs. Carl Ritter attended McHenry county council meeting of the P.T.A. at Harvard on Thursday, March 21. They enjoyed the little skit prepared for the occasion. Films were shown about the Cerebral Palsy Foundation which proved very instructive and enlightening. Refreshments were served. The next meeting of the P.T.A. of the Lilymoor schoolhouse will be held at 8 p.m. on April 4. Election Of officers will take place after which there will be a discussion on the forthcoming Chicago convention. Plans will also be made for the children as to the doings on the last day of school. Pinochle Club Hie Pinochle club met this past week in the home of Mrs. Ronnie Romkowske. Prize winners for the day were Irene Leon, Ti Gieger of DUck Lake and Dorothy Wrublewski. A wonderful time was had by all with refreshments served as a climax to their pinochle session. Confirmed Gene Bolda was among those who received confirmation vows last Thursday, March 21 at St. Patrick's church in McHenry. To celebrate the confirmation, Gene had a family party in his home. Help! Another call, if you please, for volunteers to help with the field and slew burning program in Lakemoor. Volunteers must meet at the Community House at 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 31. Little Burke Romkowske isn't so small anymore. He just passed his sixth birthday on Tuesday, March 19. At his party were Jim my and Jean Bolda, Katharine Brzezinski, Tommy Para, Linda Wrublewski, Carol and Barbara Erickson, Leslie Rogers and Kathy and Andrew Tomaszewski. Mrs. Margaret O'Rourke celebrated her birthday with her family last week Wednesday^ March 13. to his reward leaving his widow and three children,, one of whom is stricken With polio. Miss Florence O'Rourke counted twenty candles on her cake last Sunday, March 24. Roy Erickson, Sr., eliminated all candles from his cake on March 12. E. J. Jinks, angler "extrordinaire", celebrated his birthday on March 27, with his fish in attendance. Belated Birthdays So sorry to be so late, but happy birthday belated to the twins, Barbara and Carol Erickson, who celebrated their natal date with their playmates on March 1. The twins are now well into their seventh year. Welcome Home, Jen Received a card from Jen Mc- Dermott, who for the last few weeks, has been visiting Sonny McDermott in California. Miss Nancy Crimmins accompanied Jen to the west coast as Sonny is due to return to the Hawaiian Islands. Jen expects to be home on Sunday, March 24. By the time this paper hits the streets Jen can read her welcome home note. Jen enjoyed the beautiful weather, shopping and walking. ^She says all the boys look good and that they visited Tia Juana on St. Patrick's Day. Glad to have you both back with us northerners again. Ln-Lu They decided to name her Lu- Lu. She's the most exotic thing that has come into their lives in quite a while. She's all soft and smooth and sweet. Yes, sir, that's their baby. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Strasser are the proud owners of that spanking new gold, bronze and beige car they're running around in. Ladies League On Wednesday, March 20, the ladies league met and a social evening was enjoyed. The hostess-, es for the evening were Mrs. Erickson and Mrs. Brossman. Refreshments were served at the dose of the meeting. McNally Benefit Dance The Benefit dance for the Andy McNally family is going to be held on Saturday, April 27, at the American Legion Memorial home on Route 12, Fox Lake, at 8:30 p.m. The tickets are available by calling this reporter at McHenry 594-W-2. House Committee The house committee will attend their monthly meeting at the fire community house on Friday, April 5, at 9 p.m. Hypo-Parlor Sorry to hear that Mrs. Beaulah Vachet was admitted to McHenry hospital last week, Monday. She's fighting another touch of pneumonia. Get well quick, Beaulah. Little Linda Wrublewski is shouting good and loud these days with good reason. A week and a half ago she had her tonsils removed. She feels it's all over but the shouting. This reporter is sick these days too. It's all because she isn't hearing from her friends and neighbors about the state of affairs in their homes. Home and About Out at the Brzezinski home last week for a visit were Casey's mother and father and sister from Chicago. This is the first time Casey's mother has been out since last October. She's really out and around since her bout with heart trouble is over. Visiting on the same day were Mr. and Mrs. A1 Dember and family of Chicago. Here at the Walter Para home last Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gerlach and family from Barrington. Ann Brzezinski spent last week Monday in Chicago at her sister's home, Marie Fabian. She made a trip over to see Casey's folks on the same day. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Atkins and son, John, returned from a weekend trip to Indianapolis, last week. They visited their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. James Atkins. The senior Atkins will be remembered to most as those fine folks who purchased the Geinosky home last year. The next meeting of the 'teens will be on April 6, starting at 7 :30 p.m. and ending at 10. Migrators Return Mr. and Mrs. James Simmons returned last Monday from their five week trip to Tampa, Fla. Mrs. Migrater tells me that although they had a very pleasant trip she's mighty glad to be back among the living. While on their trip they decided to take a tour of some of the states. Spending a night in each state they toured Georgia, AlaJjama, Tennessee and Indiana. Travelling with them were Jim's sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Taylor of Kalamazoo* Mich. On the trip back, the Simmons left the Taylors at South Bend, Ind. and travelled the south shore back to Chicago. On the way out on their trip, the Simmons stopped long enough to celebrate their wedding anniversary which was on Feb. 24; Good to have you back with us again.' < Unique Feast Held Last Sunday The traditional Italian feast to honor St. Joseph was held in the Parratore home in Lakemoor last Saturday and Sunday, March 23 and 24. To list even the most socially prominent families in the area which attended would be an impossibility.. The huge decorated table and altar were filled to overflowing abundance with every food imaginable. Guests walked in and out in a never ending stream. It is estimated that an approximate 350 guests enjoyed the feast and that gaiety was the keynote of the entire affair. Friends from every community from here to Chicago were present to pay their respects. Mrs. Parratore had spent a month in preparation for the occasion " and a grand one it was, indeed. One could nevpi4 conceive the beauty of the feast unless he had witnessed it. himself. It was of such magnitude that to try to visualize it without seeing it, would not be possible. The four children who posed as the saints were Bobby Foss as St. Joseph, Judy Steadman as the Blessed Mother, Lenny Szarek as Baby Jesus and Louis Pogany as St. Anthony.
