Barbara Ogelsby had the honor of selling the most cookies.. Bar' bara sold forty-eight boxes and was followed by Linda Gallas who sold twenty-seven boxes. All the other girls in the troop sold at least twelve if not more boxes. The total collection of the cookies sale for the Johnsburg Brownie j. troop was $138. The girls would j like to extend a warm "thank j you" to each and every person ; who cooperated in making this : project such a rousing success. | The regular meeting which war j held last Tuesday found Barbara j Huemann acting as hostess for i the afternoon. The project of the ; day was the baking of cookies, i which the girls gift wrapped and presented to their mothers. The week of July 15 to 19, there will be a day camp in McHenry from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. The troops are still in urgent need of mothers to take training to qualify for leaders and untrained women for co-leaders. Any woman who is the least bit interested, please call either Ethel Heim at 1280-J or Dorothy Adams at 1291-M. Basic training will start in McHenry on August 21 between the hours of 1 and 4. There is need for women next fall to help with the handling and organizing new troops. If you have an hour a week to spare, you will qualify in helping these troops get started. Coming Events Next Sunday evening, April 28, the Blessed Virgin Society will sponsor another of their popular public parties. This party will take place in St. John's school hall as usual. Plan on attending and helping the school fund. coming up on Monday evening, May 9 at th6 Community club hall. You may obtain your tickets from either Mike Schaefer, Jim Hettermann, "Bones" Smith or Leo Freund. Get your tickets soon so you won't be disappointed. Sad News Our community was saddened last week with the passing of Mrs. Alice Larsen. The Larsens were known and well liked by the many friends they made since residing in the Sunnyside Beach home. Our deepest sympathy is extended to the surviving family. Hospitalized Mrs. Ford Jackson became quite ill suddenly last week and was taken to the McHerft-y hospital. Our prayers are for a speedy and complete recovery for Mrs. Jackson. > was the scene of quite a lot of activity over last weekend, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Clute and family of Battle Creek, Mioh., arrived on Friday and on Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Buss and daughter of Clinton, Iowa, joined tWfe family for an Easter celebration. Lawrence Cook, who resides with the Oeffings, was happy to have his three daughters and their families around hi|m to celebrate his seventy-first birthday which was April 19. Mr. Cook returned with the Busses to Iowa to spend a month or so. Discharged Recently Dick Hiller has donned civilian clothes once again after completing a four year hitch in Uncle Sam's air force. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Hiller are mighty glad to have him home. Around The Town Carol Ann Stilling is here to spend her Easter vacation with her grandmother, Mrs. Helen Hettermann. Once again, I would like to remind you, tickets are still being sold for the ladies night banquet Harry and Jackie Freund and their family spent last weekend visiting out of town with her family. ' * Mr. and Mrs. George Guetzloff entertained guests at their home in Jak-Ana Heights last Sunday. The Easter Bunny caught up with Gail, Tommy and Joey Lasser of Chicago at the grandparents' home, the Rudy Lassers last Sunday. Dorothy Hiller left her studies at Iowa City to spend the Easter weekend with her family. The George Oeffling Jr. home The Paul Boyk family of Chicago visited her mother Mrs. Cora Herdrich and the Ed Hettermann family over last weekend. Art Kattner, Bill and Jean Marie of Spring Grove and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dehn and f,amily were dinner guests at the William May home on Easter Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. John Dehn and daughter, Rita of Chicago were Sunday dinner guests at the Jim Hettermainn home. John and Rose Schmitt entertained their family at their home for dinner on Easter. Signs Stolen A $50.00 reward is being offered for any information leading to the arrest an<J* conviction of any person or persons who are involved in the stealing of four of the school safety signs recently. What possible use these signs can be to anyone is more than I can say. I hope the villians who stole those signs will be punished. If you have any information please contact me at 1296-R. I will in turn, pass the information on to the proper authorities. Rescue Squad Called Late last Saturday evening, the rescue squad was called upon once again to administer their aid to an accident victim.
