Alan Raiford, Dale Woods and Michael Sullivan have the distinction of being members of the first Lakeland Park cub scout troop, and Mrs. Earline Davis, the first den mother. The cubs meet every Wednesday afternoon from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Davis home. They have lots of fun planned for the summer months. Back Home Helen Strmdquist returned recently from a marvelous 3600 mile trip thru Florida. Helen accompanied her son and his family, the Larry Strandquist, Jr.s' from Wheaton. The main purpose of the trip was to visit with Wayne who is stationed at the U.S. Naval station sonar school at Key West. Since Wayne had liberty the entire time they were there, they had a grand opportunity to catch up]on their Visiting. Other highlights of the trip were the boat trip to watch the men diving for sponges, at Tarpon Springs, and the swimming sessions at Clear Water Springs. They also went swimming in the Swannee river at Old Town. GOVERNOR^ WILLIAM G. STRATTON displays in his Capitol office the ftashing-bulb type of sign to be used at selected state parks and memorials around Illinois to advertise the 3rd Aniuial State Park Photo Contest. Contest will run until August 1 and entries from 72 state parks and memorials are eligible for $500 in cash prizes and other awards. Celebrates Golden Wedding Anniversary Our belated congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Christopherson who celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary on April 14. The Christophersons were married in Drammen, Norway in 1907. but have lived in this country for the past 48 years. They-stfere guests of honor at a reunion of family and friends at the Lief Ericson Lodge in Chicago on the fourteenth. Another Surprise Janice Parisi was given the old "Surprise, Surprise" routine at the Alesi home on Saturday evening in celebration of her birthday. The guests were treated to a delicious buffet supper and later they enjoyed a very gay everting of games and dancing. Over this ,past weekend, they were joined by Helen's mother, Mrs. Myrtle Sullivan from Springfield and her daughter Mrs. Carla Darre and son, Henry. Marge and Bill Casey entertained their sister-in-law, Joan Casey and son, Jimmy last Tuesday and, Wednesday. Then Marge's mother, Mrs. Mary Beck of Chicago earner Sunday to join the Caseys and will stay until Wednesday. NEW STATE MAP ,• Hie official 1957 Illinois highway map is just out. It -has an entirely "new look," due to the first re-styling of this annual map since 1932. This 1957 map carries a color plan similar to that of previous maps, with U. S. highways in red and two-lane or wider pavements in black. A difference is that single-lane pavements and bituminous roads are printed "in blue. Local and consolidated mileage figures form an added feature of the new map. On all marked routes a local mileage figure in bade, appears between route Junctions and comftninittes.
