Hospital Auxiliary -ky Marie Scfiaettgen , A ijieeting of the cultural guild J>the auxiliary to the McHenry hospital was held at the home of Mrs. Sam Leibsohh;--Many problems were discussed and many ideas were presented;-Some problems were resolved? some ideas accepted, others rejected. All of the problems, all of the ideas, were pertinent to One:; Subject, the Country Art Fair, definitely set now for the weekend of Aug. 10-11 at the Junior high school. \ffThe tasks to be completed before that date "are myriad, but many "willing hantis/make li&ht* work. For most of ^he committee this venture is'heiv. For all, it is exciting and challenging. Not all are inexperienced. We have' some good capable hands at the controls, none more capable than those of Bill Andrews.' who is acting in the capacity !or adviser. _May Stinespring, president of <sfee auxiliary was at this meeting, as well as Miss Roe, hospital administrator. Jody Leiberson and Bea Newkirk were there and to them, as ways and means committee, goes the credit, for it was, we believe, Jody, who gave birtn to the idea. The cultural guild then took over and developed it further. The Civic Arts association of Woodstock has decided to forego its show and cooperate wth us. Nancy Howard of Bull, Valley attended the meeting. Mrs.^an Sells of the WKRS staff has joined our committee but wa% unable to attend. There are many others prominent in the community who have promised their help too. r - • The May day luncheon was a great success and th£ committee is grateful to those-who cooperat- Ann Varese played t6 a fullhouse on Friday everiihg when she presented a review of a Broadway show, Wfth Mrs. Corbett as accompanist fdr the many popular songs ' Anh' gang. The plot of the play is tW well-known plot of G. B. Shaw's "Pygmalion." It has a Cinderella-type story that never becomes tiresome and Ann as the shabby flower-girl who • parries her teachef foot too long after he taught her to "wash her fice and harnds" was delightful. Ann's performance was for the benefit of the auxiliary also, as she is chairman cultural guild. Benefit dance McHenry 16" Softball League. Sat., May 18 -- V.F.W. Hall. Refreshments anil Prizes.
