Hie Johnsburg Community club has in the past, been among the first of the season, to sponsor carnivals, nris year as before, there will be something to amuse all ages. Among the items of interest there will be various rides for the children, games of chance, handiwork booths etc. Fish fry will be served on Friday evening and lunch will be served on the grounds both Saturday and Sunday. The culinary preparations Qf our fine cooks will be .enough to tickle the taste of any person. Be sure to bring the whole family and come on over to the Johns- Iwr^ Community club grounds on either June 28, 29 or 30 and spend a few enjoyable hours. Around the Town Mr. and Mrs. Emil Boiler of Peoria were here last weekend to spend Father's Day with her dad, Bill Ricks. George and Sarah Oeffling entertained some of her family from out of town over last weekend. Marge and "Pete" Petersen stepped out on the town last Saturday evening to celebrate their anniversary. Marge's parents, who reside in Brookfield, were there to spend the weekend with them. Bill Mclnnes of Chicago spent last weekend at his summer home on the river. Help Wanted! While we are on the subject of carnivals, the club members „ are asked to come prepared with their various tools to the club grounds next Monday evening, • June 24. They will preceed to set up the . stands for the forthcoming carnival weekend. The more help that turns up, the faster each man wilj be through. Come on out. and help! Boy Scout News The Johnsburg Boy Scouts of troop 162, Mike Paul, Jim Daly and Jack Brand, went on a troop hike and campout over last weekend at Patty's Woods in Nunda township. Explorer scout Fred Durrenbcrg is attending a junior leadership training course at Camp Lowden for one week. Following that, he will participate at the annual explorers rendezvous also at Camp Lowden this weekend. Passes On Our deepest sympathy is extended to Robert G. Miller and his family. "Hessie's" dad George, passed away at the McHenry hospital following quite a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at St Patrick's church last Friday morning with interment in the church cemetery. Mrs. Joe Huemann and son Bill, visited Mrs. Vincent Knorst and Mary in Milwaukee one day last week. Bill Huemann and Loren Freund Enjoyed the White Sox - Yankee game, in Chicago recently while both were on furlough. Home On Furlough A3-c Bill Huemann, son of the Joe Huemanns, headed back for Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colo.. last Tuesday after spending a two week furlough with his family. Loren. son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Freund, enjoyed a week's furlough here from his station in Washington, D. C. recently. Temporary RosHfaoce Pat and Jack Laures and their two sons have taken up residence in her father's building, recently vacated by the Frisby family. Hie Laureses will reside there only until their new home in Countty Woods nesyr__Crystal Lake is complete. Even though their stay is short, we all hope It will be an enjoyable one. 4-H NEWS Cherry Valley The Cherry Valley 4-H club met recently at the beautiful home of Mr. and Mrs. Long. A soft bal! team was organized I and Mark Zimmerman was elected captain. The soil judging contest at Farmerama was discussed. Chuck Leahy gave a dairy project talk. David Busk gave a demonstration on a short wave radio transmitter and receiver. Neil Zimmerman demonstrated splices and their insulation. It was announced that Karen , Schmeizer had been selected for ..the dairy princess contest. s Mr. Long showed and explained to the members how his house is wired by remote control. It was both interesting and educational to farmers and electrical club members. The party-a-month followed the meeting. Two games were played, led by Terry Long and Dorothy Curran. Florida Visitors Mr. and Mrs. Jack Keenan, Betty Lou and Tom, of Pompano Beach, Fla.; ajTived here last week to spend the summer -month*.
