Next Sunday, .June 30, is Promotion Sunday and all the children and young people will * be moving on to their new classes. There will be attendant awards given to those deserving: of them. The young people of • the church will be atttending camp the second week of July at Lpfce Geneva Youth camp located at Big Foot Beach. Susan Benoche, Allan Jones and Richard Weeks received primary awards at vacation Bible school. • # Christ The King The Altar and Rosary sodality will have its regular monthly meeting on Monday evening, July 1. Note the change in date because of the July 4 holiday. Mrs. Alice Condren will present a bo'ok review following the business meeting. Final plans will be made for the rummage sale to be held orf July 27 and 28 at Mathews hall. The meeting will start at 8:30 p.m. at the Ray Mendyk home in Indian Ridge. < Bridge Club Mrs. Marcella Meeker of Wonder Woods was hostess to the Wonder Lake Bridge club Thursday night, June 20. Mrs. Ruth Woodward won first prize, Mrs. Harriette McCall, second, and Mrs. Greta Weisenberger, low. Other ladies present were Mrs. Velma Sinclair, Mrs. Grace Selleck, Mrs. Martha Thompson and Mrs. June Rinkl Delicious strafoberry shortcake was served after the game. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Gail Wrede and daughters, Jahe and Peggy, of Wooded Shores, left last Saturday for a month's vacation in Door county. They have been going to the same camp-site in Peninsuja State park for fifteen years. Word has been received of the marriage of jiliss Deanna Dawson, who graduated from McHenry high, cl*gi of '56, to Arthur A. Washington, in New Bern, North Carolina,' June 13. Their address is 221 Ann street, Jacksonvlle, N. Car. Miss Barbara Jean Porters, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Spielman of Wonder View, is vacationing in Benson, Ariz. This 12-year-old miss will go on to Nogales, Mexico, before coming home July 20 via plane. < Rudy Krutz of Wonder Woods broke a bone in his foot at work the other day when he stepped on a 2x4 and slipped. He now has his foot in e cast. Charles Crane and Jim Cornstock celebrated birthdays June 20. The ladies on Van Kanegon's bowling team had a gala evening June 26 at dinner and a show, "Oh, Genevieve," at Marengo. Only 6 boats raced because of the 30 miles an hour wind, and those that did carried a crew of three for ballast. Two boats tipped over, one of them Lee Strom's "Billy Lee," and Art Meeker's "Ascend II" filled with water. Anniversary Party „ Mrs. Leo Wines of Wooded Shores honored her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J<5hn Dyck of Chicago, with a surprise dinner party Sunday, June 23, celebrateing their thirtieth wedding anniversary. The guests, relatives and sisters of both parents, about thirty in all, came from Chicago. Northlake, Schiller Park and Norwood, and entertained themselves on the lake and beach"; Mr. and Mrs. Dyck received many beautiful gifts. The table was dpne by Mrs. rfelen Muchow, Mrs. Vi Kopp and Mrs. Elsie Hoppe, and consisted of a red and white checkered table cloth, black and white plates and mugs, an old fashioned red coffee pot, and a flower arrangement of red and White geraniums in an old' fashioned black lantern. In the Individual BlosSom division Mi's. Betty Fiala took four ribbons: a blue ribbon for an oriental poppy; two red and one yellow ribbon on roses. Mrs. Kopp took a red ribbon on peonies and a yellow one on roses. At the Crystal Lake show, May 22 and 23, the Wonder Lake club entry, a Triptych "Beauty from Sun Bleached Coastal Shores of Kenya. Africa'* won a Blue (first prize) ribbon. The entry was done by Mrs. MuChoW, Mrs; Kbpp and Mrs! Hoppe. Mrs. Kopp also took a second and honorable mention on her African Violets, at this show. Personals Mrs. Iona Hood and son Chester of Deep Spring Woods are home from a fine vacation in Memphis, Tennessee. They have been gone 3Va weeks and attended the wedding of a niece June ^ and the graduation of a nephew from Memphis State college, and visited Mrs. Hood's father in Helena, Arkansas, and other relatives in Hamburg and Crossett, Arkansas. Stratton has urged the Illinois General Assembly to enact legislation to limit the speed of passenger automobiles and busses, to 65 miles per hour by day and 55 miles an hour at night in the hope that it will reduce traffic accidents. The above map shows the distribution by counties of motor vehicle accident fatalities in 1956. Although the state showed a decrease of 3% in motor fatalities during the year as compared with 1955, nearly half of the counties marked up fatalily increases in 1956. Falls, died in the hospital in Chicago; she had been ailing for some time. Mrs. Wilma Whipple of Wonder Woods suffered a heart attack at a summer resort "at Table, Wisconsin, and is confined to a hospital .in northern Wisconsin. They live in Oak Park with their, three children and will be summer residents at the Lake. The current releases cover all customers who had applied for this sen-ice on or before July 16, 1954, for existing homes and on Or before Sept. 23. 1954, for individual new homes. In accordance with the gas restriction order under which the company is operating, gas heat authorizations are issued only for single family dwellings and those authorized have twelve months in which to complete their installations. Officials . of communities, industries and civic organizations ih the division attended a special ceremony at the North Shore hotel, Evanston. The atomic power station of the Commonwealth Edison Public Service system will have the country's largest nuclear power reactor. Approximately 600 men are now at work on the Dresden project, which is located on the Illinois waterway at the meeting point of the Kankakee, Des Plaines and Illinois rivers.
